Canon R5 Mark II APS-C Video modes
Can someone with an R5 Mark II confirm whether or not the 4K Fine video mode is available when APS-C crop is enabled?
I’ve been researching the available video modes available when shooting with APS-C lenses, and haven’t been able to confirm whether 4K Fine is available under these conditions. Thanks.

Switch to new body?
I would like to switch to a new camera. I'm currently using an old and simple EOS 2000D. I'm a beginner and only want to use the camera as a hobby or when traveling, but I still want to take beautiful photos. Should I stick with APS-C for travel photography and wildlife or switch to full-frame? What really bothers me about the 2000D is the ISO noise from ISO 1600 and the lack of detail in the photos. I'm planning to take photos of the Northern Lights on a trip in the fall. Would you advise me to go for an EOS R8 or an EOS R7? Or would an EOS R10 be enough?

Canon EOS R1 developement announcement
Obviously already on thousands of other sites, but apparently not on Lemmy, so here you are!
> COMING SOON! The EOS R1 > >TOKYO, May 15, 2024—Canon Inc. announced today that it is currently developing the EOS R1, a full-frame mirrorless camera, as the first flagship model for the EOS R SYSTEM equipped with an RF mount and is aiming for a 2024 release. > >The EOS R1 is a mirrorless camera geared toward professionals that brings together Canon’s cutting-edge technology and combines top-class performance with the strong durability and high reliability sought in a flagship model. This camera will dramatically improve* the performance of both still images and video and meet the high requirements of professionals on the frontlines of a wide range of fields including sports, news reporting, and video production. > >This camera employs the newly developed image processor DIGIC Accelerator in addition to the pre-existing processor DIGIC X. The new image processing system, composed of these processors and a new CMOS sensor, enables large volume of data to be processed at high speeds and delivers never-before-seen advancements in Auto Focus (AF) and other functions. > >By combining the new image processing system and deep learning technology to an advanced degree, Canon has achieved high-speed and high-accuracy subject recognition. For example, subject tracking accuracy has been improved so that in team sporting events where multiple subjects intersect, the target subject can continually be tracked even if another player passes directly in front of them. In addition, the AF “Action Priority” function recognizes subject movement by rapidly analyzing the subject’s status. In moments during a sports game when it is difficult to predict what will happen next, this function automatically determines the player performing a certain action, such as shooting a ball, as the main subject and instantly shifts the AF frame, thereby helping to capture decisive moments of gameplay. > >The combination of the new image processing system and deep learning technology will help to improve image quality. Canon implements the image noise reduction function, which has been previously developed and improved as part of the software for PCs, as a camera function to further improve image quality and contribute to user creativity. > >Canon is working on field tests for this camera, and will support capturing definitive and impactful moments at international sporting events to be held in the future. > >Going forward, Canon will continue to expand the EOS R SYSTEM lineup of fascinating cameras and RF lenses, thereby continuing to meet the demands of a wide range of users and contribute to the development of photography and video culture. > >\* In comparison to EOS R3 (released in November 2021)

Speedlite RT radio sync problems
Hullo, I recently aquired a Speedlite EL-5 and was thinking of pairing it with the ST-E10 transmitter for off-camera flash. I found dozens of complaints online that since a couple of years ago, the Canon RT connection drops constantly and is unusable, probably due to interference. Does someone have a good experience with the radio sync? Apparently a lot of people are having problems - are there any who don't? This situation is the best advertising for Godox, really thinking of returning the Speedlite for the V1 Pro - that in itself would be inferior to the Canon, but with excellent compatibility and radio sync!

Speedlite EL-5 battery drain
Hullo everybody! I'd like to know if someone has experience with the new Speedlite EL-5 and if they can share if their LP-EL battery shows extreme drain when not in use and installed in the flash. Mine lasts less then 3 days, without using the flash apart from checking the state of charge 3 to 4 times. I read some other comments online on this issue, so it's not isolated.

A question on nomenclature
What are we calling the camera bodies in the dSLR/SLR body shape, that technically aren't dSLRs because they don't have mirrors?

EOS ELAN Reusability
Hi everyone, I have a very old ELAN that was gifted to me a few years ago. As of late I've been hating my phone camera and would like a dedicated device for taking photos. First time looking at DSLRs, so anyone with knowledge... Would the lens be any good on a digital camera body? Would it be more trouble than it's worth?

Scarecrow Goofy
My first canon 5D Mark 4 picture here. Taken at d isneyland. As a JPG I then transferred to my Galaxy s22 ultra. Processed through snapseed. As it's a vertical shot I then processed through No Crop app so it can fit in instagram. Also added the blurred effect in the typically white borders. I wonder though if I have my snapseed settings set to "too dark"
