Hasbro has surprised collectors with some pretty rare rereleases including Star Wars Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter Vehicle

Hasbro Brings Back Star Wars: TVC Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing Fighter

    > Take flight back to 2020 as Hasbro has unveiled that they are bringing back some pretty rare Star Wars collectibles. We have seen quite a few of these releases over the past few months with Black Series helmets and figures like the 6" Captain Rex. Well, it is time for a rare The Vintage Collection figure to arrive with Luke Skywalker X-Wing Straighter. This bad boy dropped in 2020 and faithfully brings off the starship right from Star Wars: A New Hope. Scaled to 3.75" size, this vehicle features a working landing gear, opening and closing wings, and even has vintage-inspired packaging with original Kenner branding. The X-Wing is easily one of the most iconic Star Wars ships besides the Millennium Falcon, so it is no wonder this ship sold out years ago. Since then, collectors would have to give up 200 credits to get one, but not anymore as it returns with its original $99.99 price tag. Pre-orders are live on Fan Channel sites like Big Bad Toy Store with a May 2025 release and are selling out fast.

  • $1.3 million Boba Fett action figure breaks records as the most expensive toy ever sold

    > A Boba Fett action figure sold for over $1.3 million, making it the most expensive Star Wars toy, and the most expensive toy in general, ever sold. Boba Fett is one of the best bounty hunters in Star Wars, and he's been an icon of the franchise ever since The Empire Strikes Back. He was a sensation as soon as he appeared in the Star Wars movies, and his popularity grew enough that he got a solo spinoff show, The Book of Boba Fett. There was even a now-canceled Boba Fett movie at one point, and one toy perfectly exemplifies how important he is as a character. > >A Boba Fett action figure, specifically the 1979 Kenner Star Wars Rocket-Firing Boba Fett (Mailer) J-Slot (V2)/2 Missiles Action Figure, was recently sold by Goldin at auction for $1,342,000 including the premium fee. According to the collectibles marketplace company, that price makes it the most expensive toy ever sold.

While we might be waiting a while for the show itself to return, this fall, you’ll be able to get in on the excitement later this year with a new addition to your toy shelf. > > io9 has your exclusive first look at K-2SO’s return to Hasbro’s Star Wars action figure lines to celebrate news of his return in Andor. This winter both the 6″ Black Series and 3.75″ inch Vintage Collection will receive updated relaunches of K-2SO in Andor-inspired packaging. > >For the Black Series, this isn’t the first time we’ve seen the character in figure form–K2 released as part of Hasbro’s Rogue One offerings in 2016, and was given another update in 2021 when the toymaker re-did its prior Rogue One figures with updated “photoreal” face prints. The new Andor-inspired K2 uses the same sculpt as those figures, but includes an updated paint job to better reflect his appearance in upcoming the TV show as accurately as possible. What's the deal with that cantina? How is the world of The Mandalorian being built out? Why is that Darth Maul so rare? And more.

Hasbro's Star Wars Team Discuss the Cantina and World-Building

    > For years going on decades, Star Wars toy collectors were led to believe that the Tonnika twins, two humans briefly seen during the cantina scene in A New Hope, were the only movie characters who were absolutely off-limits for toys. > >Hasbro wouldn’t tell us if that used to be the case, but perhaps we can read between the lines when the Star Wars team’s Chris Reiff tells us, “Clearly, we’ve done them, and we’re just super-excited to have gotten to do them. It’s a lot of work to do all these projects and to be able to really deliver something special.” > > Somewhat controversially, the crowd-funded cantina offered two separate tiers, a process that was at least partly research to see if fans preferred displays open for shelf display, or completist, possibly for tabletops rather than shelves. > >“A ship – you can’t offer two-thirds of a ship,” says Reiff. “But in this case we could offer two-thirds that covers the core aspect of the cantina. It’s tough to say the price point of a HasLab is an entry price point, but it’s an easier price point for a lot of fans, and then the plus-up option for the deluxe to really want to blow it out if you wanna do that.” > > “Who knows what happens with the future campaigns,” adds his colleague Jing Houle. “It also gave us a lot of information on what fans are looking for.” > > Like a Death Star, perhaps? They both laugh, as we all know they’d never tell us at this stage.

  • gizmodo.com This Rocket-Firing Boba Fett Is Officially the World's Most Valuable Vintage Toy

The highly prized Star Wars collectible was just auctioned off for over half a million dollars.

This Rocket-Firing Boba Fett Is Officially the World's Most Valuable Vintage Toy

    > It’s not surprising that a pristine example of Kenner’s notoriously rare Boba Fett action figure with “rocket-firing” action—never released to the public after being deemed a choking hazard—commanded a jaw-dropping sum at a recent auction. But $525,000 is quite the handsome bounty. > > According to a Heritage Auctions press release, “its price more than doubled the record for the most expensive Star Wars action figure sold at auction, held by a rocket-firing Boba Fett that realized $236,000 in June 2022.” This latest sale featured one of only two surviving examples of a hand-painted version of the never-released, circa-1979 figure, hence the increase in value; incredibly, it only exists today because someone at Kenner rescued it “from a box of discarded toys deposited there for employees to take home. > > Heritage also notes that “this miniature Mandalorian also bested a Barbie to become the most valuable vintage toy sold at auction. In 2010, a one-of-a-kind, 1-carat-diamond-wearing Barbie sold for $302,000. Her reign ended Friday thanks to a protracted bidding war that landed this holy grail in one collector’s cargo hold.”
