Carrots sold at Trader Joe's and Wegmans recalled due to possible E. coli contamination

Summary

Grimmway Farms has voluntarily recalled organic whole carrots and baby carrots sold at Trader Joe’s, Wegmans, and other retailers due to possible contamination with Shiga toxin-producing E. coli (STEC), linked to an outbreak identified by the CDC.

Affected products, sold under various labels, include whole carrots (sold from Aug. 14–Oct. 23, 2024) and baby carrots with best-by dates from Sept. 11–Nov. 12, 2024.

Customers are advised to discard them.

STEC can cause severe illness, particularly in young children and the elderly. A prior E. coli outbreak was linked to onions in McDonald’s burgers.
