samus12345 @lemmy.world Surely there's a very long German word for it.

31 1 ReplyyetAnotherUser @discuss.tchncs.de More like Aufmerksamkeitsdefizit-/Hyperaktivitätsstörung.
By the way, using the 'ß' as you did would force the preceding vowel to have a stretched pronunciation.
And I don't know about you, but in my opinion defeeßit and deeßorder sounds awful.

samus12345 @lemmy.world While this is more common for people with ADHD, it can happen to anyone.
11 0 Replyayyy @sh.itjust.works True, but I only get so many opportunities to use that silly ß
14 0 Replycorsicanguppy @lemmy.ca Justified usage.
6 0 Replygamermanh @lemmy.dbzer0.com Get in the habit of replacing "fuck" with "sheiße" and that problem is solved!*
*People might think you're weird/a Nazi for this, even if you're actually learning German, because people are weird
3 0 ReplyChrobin @discuss.tchncs.de Scheiße*
7 0 Replysamus12345 @lemmy.world I think the whole "using German means you're a Nazi" thing will have to change now since there's a much bigger country embracing Nazism...

socsa @piefed.social As an ADHD person, sight reading is actually my shitty superpower. I don't understand it, but my difficulty is just starting the book. But once I'm in it's pure hyper focus.

CaptainBlagbird @lemmy.world It 's not that long, I think it is called "Leselücke" (reading gap).
If you want, you could call it "Lesegedankenwanderungsamnesie" (reading wandering thought amnesia) 🤔
14 0 Replyjumperalex @lemmy.world at least 35 syllables long and you'll forget what your reading halfway through the word.
8 0 Replyxspurnx @lemmy.dbzer0.com I'll bet there is - some of my friends call it "Leseschlaf" (reading sleep), which seems fitting.
