Trump doesn't "hate" gay people when he can ignore their gayness and use them for his purposes.

Honestly, my opinion, it's hard to see indications that he hates gay people since he's pro gay marriage and stuff

The problem comes from the fact that some people hear "mental illness" and think "dangerous" and "boy I'd love to genocide them," not "what are the treatment options?"

There's a lot of slop over there to wade through, and the most popular right wingers over there are the obnoxious (and at times even hateful) ideologues rather than people who think more critically. And I thoroughly hate Truth Social, they have no regard for free speech over there and it's all Qanon-adjecent Trump sycophants. Gross. I hate echo chambers.
Reddit is...okay? I do use it from time to time but some of the users are about as obnoxiously far-left as some people on Lemmy are. The mods over there are way worse than they are here though.

He has hired black people and Trump hates black people. He still thinks the Central Park 5 are guilty despite the actual perpetrator being found and the five being exonerated.

Fair enough, maybe the TDS sufferers aren't exactly "spinning" per se. It's just funny to see people with a set narrative add conditions to that narrative once they notice it comes in conflict with reality.
"Trump hates gays" becomes "Trump hates gays unless they're bad people" once Trump hires a gay person, for example.

What don't you like? It's an example of "having a black friend doesn't make you not racist" in the same way that "hiring a gay man doesn't make you a friend of gays". Trump has already indicated that he will (again) disallow trans people in the military.
You ever hear somebody use the phrase "he's one of the good ones?" Because I get the feeling trump uses it quite a bit. Besides - it's obvious Trump cares more about loyalty than he does ideology. Even Hitler had a homosexual in his organization at the start.

The fact that he's a billionaire is more important than anything else. Same reason Thiel funds conservatives, he's rich enough that any anti-gay lgbtq stuff doesn't actually have any effect on him. Same reason Rogan and Musk could smoke weed in Texas on video and not face any charges. It's just wealth solidarity trumping any supposed "family values" or "war on drugs" as per usual. Lindsey Graham being gay is like Washington's worst kept secret and yet he represents one of the most bigoted states on the side of bigotry for over 20 years.
