Inb4 they don't actually delete your account... I've seen people dealing with their account still existing long after they requested it to be deleted.

I ran a script to over write and delete my comments, but left the account open as a placeholder.

Have still received comment replies to my posts twice. When I went to see the comment it was deleted.
- When I did this I got a zillion automated PM's from some bot whining about, "Please stop running a script on our sub!"

- A lot of your old history is not accessible from within your comment history in your profile. Reddit is just broken spaghetti code in a lot of ways.
- if you request all of your reddit account data they provide you with every comment/ edited or deleted, from memory anyway

First use a tool like Redact to edit (not delete) all of your comments if you want them as truly gone as they may possibly get.

This won't actually help. Any competent data engineer is already detecting bulk edits and reverting.

A proper tool would trickle changes over weeks

i wish i went through my entire history and deleted everything before closing my account.

There's extensions to do it but I think it's even better to use one that edits all your history

He's using a password manager (Keepass, in his case) probably with a long, randomly generated password for Reddit. This is a great cybersecurity practice.

  Last count, i have well over 300 online accounts - and i don't know the password for a single one of them, except for my main Google account and my password manager. It remembers all of them for me.
24 random letter upper and lower case, numbers and special characters. that is more than enough to stop brute force cracking. unless someones nuts and uses a server farm
