Honestly, the sports could be reversed here, or either used in both places, and the joke still works.
Professional hockey needs to move to having a single defense player. Newer leagues have done it and it's way more fun to watch.

I had no idea that "stereotype" applied to hockey as well! I just used hockey as an example in this joke because that is the sport they were watching in the actual scene.
EDIT: This version is probably better, then.
