For when you need to shoot four guys who are standing equally spaced
- Say your prayers Weezer
- smooth bore though, so who knows if you'll hit literally any of them
- Evenly spaced and no more than 4 feet away.
- I think these were intended for ship captains as a last resort against mutineers.
  
  More about threatening a crowd than actual marksmanship.
I just visited a historical battleship museum and at the small arms locker they had a list of all the dozens of pistols, rifles, light machine guns, and so forth they had on board... and also three or four short-barreled shotguns that a contemporary crewman account affectionately referred to as "mutiny guns."
