Prusa announces new CoreXY 3D printer "Prusa CORE One" at 949 USD
  • I went out of my way to purchase prusa the first time. With these new developments, I probably won't.

Yeah, the enclosure is a driving factor as I'd like to branch out to different materials. The AMS seems pretty awesome as well since I've been wanting to do multi color for a while now.

  • Good space podcasts?
  • Spacepod by Carrie Nugent is hands down the best podcast about space. She interviews a different expert every week and gets them to share and explain their research. Fantastic. Hooked me from the beginning.

Some episodes are better than others, but they are always jam packed full of information.

Edit: Also, Carrie is an astronomer, so sometimes her and the guest fully geekout on a topic.

  • Nvidia to replace Intel in Dow Jones Industrial Average — Intel's 25-year reign has come to an end
  • Tesla is insanely overvalued...p/e >100 with fake product launches, delay after delay of new models. Technology not meeting their own metrics.

Nvidia p/e is only 65 and they keep breaking records of yoy growth.

    Apple p/e is 35. Microsoft p/e is 35.

Cisco p/e at height of dotcom crash (which many people like to compare nvidia to) was >200.

Major CSPs are locked in a race to get AGI. Spending is not going to slow...

  • E-Bikes Are Real Bikes—and They’re Great for Everyone
  • I want to be a fan of ebikes. I actively looked for one for over 6 months and then I bought a regular bike. Majority of ebikes are far too heavy. Ebike manufacturers are focusing on long distances and only high end very expensive bikes are light.

  • Reminiscing about smaller phones
  • I got an xz2 compact and was so excited about it. Then I realized that even thought it supported wifi calling, you could not used the feature on Verizon network. I tried so many different ways to get it to work, but bottom line was Verizon wouldn't allow the required FW. Since I lived somewhere with no cell service, I had to replace it. It's so sad that a phone can have features that can be blocked on some networks...

  • >Europa Clipper is NASA’s mission to explore one of Jupiter’s four large Galilean satellites. Europa has an icy outer crust that covers an ocean world. It holds twice as much water as Earth’s oceans. So, Scientists want to know more about the habitability – the ability for some form of live to exist – on this large moon.

    Does anyone over-winter their peppers?
  • I did it one year with jalapeños and will likely never do it again. The yield on them was actually less than the freshly planted. I think the winter just over-stressed the plant and it never fully recovered. Zone 8a.

  • A year later, Apple has failed at USB-C (just like everyone else)
  • I'd happily be the first to dump on Apple or iphones. However, the take away is that the author doesn't understand anything about product design, the difficulty of engineering small devices to meet every specification or the cost it drives into the platform. In 2 years this guy will probably be disappointed that he can't get TBT4 with eGPU support on his iPhone 17.

If the FarView radio telescope is built, it would double as a demonstration of two unprecedented activities: mining and manufacturing in space.

    Foundation advice

    Drawing

Red is a concrete foundation. Black is rotting wood foundation that needs to be replaced.

Foundation issues suck. House has foundation issues. Most of the foundation will need to be replaced. Part of the house currently has a wood foundation which is rotting. There is an addition which has a concrete foundation. (See image above).

I know that the wood foundation can be replaced with a pier and post foundation. They can stabilize the house, dig and pour piers, then use metal posts to brace the house at the right height.

Is a pier and post foundation the only option? Is there a way to do a concrete foundation?

Edit: The image is a top down look at the perimeter of the house. The red part is a ~600 sqft addition. The black part is the main house.

The System76 team is so cool

Saw this new community from the landing page as a trending community. Just wanted to drop in and say that I had the great opportunity to chat with these guys as a supplier. The relationship didn't work out in the end, but these guys are just so cool and dedicated to making awesome products.

I know that my next system will be a system76 system.

Keep up the great work guys!
