NASA Is ‘Evaluating All Options’ to Get the Boeing Starliner Crew Home
  • Huh I recently watched a video about how SpaceX basically squandered the renewed interest in the moon (EDIT: It was actually a remix of a Smarter Every Day video, about how they need dozens of launches for a single flight to the moon). Arguably the creator Thunderf00t is a very biased shitposter, but their plan seemed absurd and included blatant corruption. Imho SpaceX has done some good stuff but it's a pretty mixed bag.

Do you know a youtube channel that is smart about reporting about spaceflight without overt fanboy biases?

  • NASA Is ‘Evaluating All Options’ to Get the Boeing Starliner Crew Home
  • All this reads weird. Private spacecraft sucks, recent Boing corporate culture sucks, SpaceX sucks even more. But this is Boings first flight and it seems it's a relatively minor problem so I'm curious why there is so much backlash. I guess it's a mixture between general anger at Boing for mismanaging their expertise, fatigue about private aeronautics and maybe spaceX fanboys?

Dunno. I'd imagine astronauts would kill for more time in space, part of this seems manufactured drama.

  • FarmBot: Open-Source CNC farming
  • Do you know if anybody is working on a spider / walking bot?

I was looking at the farmbot and thinking a version with 20" bicycle wheels would be better. Then you could have a long path where it just moves back and forth. And maybe use a robot arm based on rotating arms instead of linear actuators. And then build the whole thing so it fits neatly under a big glass solar panel. Maybe a tool changer so it can pick up a watering can. The mechanical side should be relatively easy to build, the problem still seems to be the AI vision software.

With food prices rising it might be worth it if you can increase the area it can patrol.

  • Blinken: Overwhelming evidence Venezuela opposition won election
  • I'd say history. But it's not even that. The US is at war with venezuela and always has been. Just kidding it's eurasia. Nah haha but they are waging economic warfare. Well Trump did and Biden continues to.

So should you believe the US claims? You'll have to as your ideological master programmer of course. It's not like you could just use historical facts and make some clear logical deductions!

So yeah it's ONLY a matter of ideology and opinion /s

Oh btw Trump also really won the last US election and Biden isn't even President. It's not like these things are different in any way - one side is right, the other is wrong, and it's only a matter of opinion.

  • Racism has always been about inequality and dehumanizing people. It was always a constructed or mythological fixed identity.

But that's not funny. That's just sad.

It's not funny like calling them orcs.

But that comment is 85% upvoted so clearly I'm wrong and that can't be racism. Hey, maybe I have brain bleeds from long covid. Honestly that would be preferable to this shit. "Russians aren't really hur hur hur". Fucking racist morons.

  • understanding the underlying cause of these conditions will allow us to develop targeted therapies for patients in the future,” said Prof. Matthew Campbell

Lets hope so. I imagine they might try medicines to reduce the bleeding and improve healing.

  • Macron refuses to rule out putting troops on ground in Ukraine in call to galvanise Europe
  • Yeah we should have, after promising Russia not to expand Nato "one inch to the east", almost IMMEDIATELY expanded Nato to the east. And then within 14 years be at their border. That would have destabilized the situation much more. If we only had done that! My point is that whatever we did to get to this point, we just should have done more of it.

Luckily we now get the war that was promised! And luckily we also get to do the exact same thing again with China and Taiwan! How great is that?

  • YSK: About BangYourBuck.com, which lets you sort Amazon by price per pound/count/etc.
  • Wow thanks that is awesome, gotta remember that site. For rice I already found the 50lbs pack that also beats my local discount grocer (which is rare).

What pisses me off that amazon has made it's "sort by cheapest" completely unusable. You find 100 pages of the exact same ultra-trashy product or something related or a replacement part or something.

  • Gemini: Who negatively impacted society more, Elon Musk or Hitler?
  • On the bright side, once AI actually CAN answer things like this we'd have "Artificial Ethics". A way to judge questions objectively or at least without emotional tempering for each specific case. This could solve some fundamental problems like "who watches the watchers" - we simply build the perfect watcher.

Of course we're far away from that yet. And then we'd just ignore our perfect watcher anyway 🤣

  • I've recently read a comment saying the great Chinese firewall somehow "learns" that you are using a VPN. So people doing quick tests "yep VPN works" but then a little later it doesn't work anymore. No clue if that is true though.

  • Scientific experiment on collaborative movement in zero gravity

Just ignore the unscientific music 😉 As a fan of space travel I think this is a very interesting study for observations how people can move around in zero gravity collaboratively. Not just dance or sports but also working together. Music video on Invidious. The behind the scenes video (invidious) is also very interesting.
