The direction Windows 11 is taking is terrible but i've tried on multiple occasions (even this morning!) to game and consume my content on Ubuntu or Fedora and i run into so much trouble, that ill have to stick with Windows 11. I have been using Ubuntu at work for the last 10 years though as web development is great on it.
Issues i have:
- Lutris not finding GoG games
- Heroic working, but not being able to sync savegames for GoG
- Having installed GoG with Bottles and then the game itself works, but my framerate wasn't that great
- Nvidia driver getting borked after kernel update, need to switch to old kernel, uninstall, switch to new kernel, reinstall
- Mangohud flatpak not working together with Goverlay repo version
- Need alternative for Synology cloud sync. Maybe Syncthing or rsync with SMB
- And i need alternatives for fps limiting, undervolting and cpu undervolting. Haven't put enough time into it yet though
- I like the mouse acceleration on Windows and in KDE both flat and adaptive feel pretty flat. Probably can be tweaked with xinput or something, but you can't configure the acceleration amount by default
Maybe one day, but for now Windows is probably just the better choice for me and gaming (on a laptop). At least in Windows 11 they now allow you to not group the taskbar by default..
I currently own a S23+ and had a OnePlus 6T before that and Nexus 5X before that. I wouldn't be bothered by the Samsung bloat. You can uninstall nearly everything. Set the default apps you want to use and hide the rest. You have this configured quickly and then you will never be bothered by it again.
The default Pixel 8 launcher doesnt even allow you to remove the huge Google search widget, which bothers me a lot more. I find One UI pretty vanilla feeling to be honest. Don't notice that much difference from my OnePlus 6T which had a fairly vanilla OS.
Hopping between:
- Helldivers 2
- Deep Rock Galactic
- MechWarrior 5
- Last Epoch
But HD2 has way more players than DRG ever had on it's highest peak (46k vs 268k). I suspect that many gamers really like the less cartoony graphics
Thats what i thought. I think Glitchington is mixing up sites like G2A. Greenmangaming, Fanatical and Humble bundle are authorized resellers as far as i know
Appareantly this site only lists legit resellers: https://isthereanydeal.com/game/helldivers-2/info/
Its really immersive/atmospheric and plays pretty good on PC. Not sure yet if i like it more than Deep Rock Galactic, but ill have to give it some more time. It has the same gameplay loop as DRG, but is more tactical. It's either way a good coop game especially considering it just launched! Theres some startup issues with connections getting lost etc, but those will get resolved within a week i think. Theres some MTX in there which i don't like but it's easy to ignore without missing out on things. I wouldn't let that deter you.
Bought it on greenmangaming for 33 EUR which is more reasonable than 40 EUR in my opinion
A plastic screen? Doesn't that get scuffed up really easily?
X4: Foundations. Just started a new playthrough with the Kingdom End DLC.
Its the closest to Eve online, except being offline, singleplayer, pausable and moddable. It supports many playstyles and can also be played semi afk, which i like. At times it can be incredibly frustrating because the UI is complex and the AI of your fleet members can be very stupid.
Still i enjoy just doing my thing, playing for a bit, save and continue later. Not a lot of games support this. Others that do for me are Factorio/DSP and Drox Operative 2
Hi! No this is Connect. The theming probably makes it look like something else
I like this app. It reminds me of Boost for Reddit! Love the font and color customization
This is how i configured the app:
Edit: had some issues with settings resettingbut i hadnt updated the app yet. It works fine now!
Edit2: hm having troubles using the comment toolbar to upload a picture. The buttons seem nearly unclickable. They dont seem to have enough height
Edit3: the comment font scaling is small with global font size set to medium
Never made the connection. I think its a bit far fetched to get worked up about, but PC Gaming Race could work i guess
Connect and Jerboa are also alright. I think i like Jerboa the most so far
I dont think so which is surprising as the TTK is so low and weapons arent hitscan(?)
I cant see your image yet, Lemmy is struggling
Edit: oops i see it now and misunderstood
Thats a good genre, but for some reason i don't find any really compelling so far. I think it's because the lack of progression makes it feel meaningless. Seeing some way of permanent progression is just so satisfying :)
Deep Rock Galactic had this for me. Although it's not single player, you character/account level just keeps going. It's pointless, but addicting
Favorite map?
Whats your favorite and least favorite maps?
My favorite so far is Tensatown because it feels the least chaotic so far. Theres lots of little areas without super long sightlines.
Least favorite must be Frugis due to the chokepoints.
I cannot comment on diablo 2, but i don't think diablo 3 is worth it. At this poin i would go for diablo 4 myself. It's better in every aspect:
- better and longer story
- better graphics (but fairly easy to run)
- some social aspects with the open world, but it's pretty mild
- more varied content to do
It's pretty fun but also very hard, maybe too hard for me. De gameplay is battlefield like with call of duty pacing to me. Theres quite a lot of maps with good variety. Some maps are more sandboxy and open. Others more urban like or with more choke points. At the end of the game you can vote for the next map, but usually the same ones get voted over and over. The gunplay is good and has depth.
I will keep playing it, but mix it up with Deep Rock Galactic for some more relaxed sessions
