That would explain why his latest video seemed to go full tanky. He basically spent half the video justifying the USSR's, North Korea's, and China's actions by saying "akshully the US is worse!"
Like I could agree with the sentiment if he wasn't trying to justify the actions of these actors at the same time. How hard is it to criticize the US without forgiving the rest of history's monsters?
The truth about authoritarianism, whether fascist or communist, is they will point to the other to justify their existence, when they both deserve the same bunk in hell.
Probably meaning backwards, highly conservative, people from there are seen as "hicks" or "red knecks," have an abnormally high rate of incest and child marriage compared to the rest of the country, and any person part of a marginalized group would probably want to avoid.

Lemmy has an extremism problem. Partly because of the lack of moderation tools (which is why a lot of mods supposedly left reddit in the first place) and partly because of the lack of moderation, or straight up complacency of some mods.
Why does every fad tech come with a huge environmental cost?
I normally don't mind political memes, but I draw the line at genocide denial and whitewashing history. The mods there are complacent.
I recommend other memers who feel similarly to place their activity in other meme pages around the fediverse.
