Three-quarters of U.S. adults are now overweight or obese
  • So, I'm I to assume that you wanted to say that calories are more important than food quality?

    Sure. I agree with that.

Regarding your careful choice of words. If you wanted to make a convoluted post in order to smugly debate some random person on the internet, then you have done an excellent job and I congratulate you sir.

If you are trying to actually communicate clearly then you have some improvements to make.

  • Three-quarters of U.S. adults are now overweight or obese
  • Well, the smugness is impressive. I'll have to give you that.

You specifically said: "in other words, america could be totally healthy eating the exact same food if we built society around people living healthy lives, but that is far from the primary goal for a country living under capital."

I just disagree with this statement. I don't think we could eat the exact same diet in a different society and expect food-related health issues to significantly improve.

So where on the list of causes would you place calorie intake, food quality and inactivity? Secondary? Tertiary? Completely unrelated?

  • Three-quarters of U.S. adults are now overweight or obese
  • I slightly disagree.

If I suddenly started eating 15000 kcal of mostly sugar and fat each day, it would have a detrimental impact on my health. Regardless of my education or income.

So to me it seems like the effect is in reverse. If we changed society to make it easier for people to make healthier choices, then the general health would improve. But the actual improvement would come from calorie intake, food quality and activity levels.

But I absolutely agree that having limited access to healthy food, and living in a area where walking could be unsafe makes it incredibly hard to be healthy.

  • I can't enjoy Diablo anymore.
  • You can definitely grind. It's not necessary for beating the game, but it's helpful.

But I'm just halfway through my first run, so I'm not a expert. But it's definitely a good replacement for Diablo so far.

  • That's horrible. Why would anyone think that co2 is in any way an acceptable way of taking a life?

I guess it's slightly more efficient than just putting your pets in an airtight container. But still pretty awful.

    E-reader suggestion

    Hi.

I have an old Amazon Kindle Paperwhite that is showing signs of its age. So I have to start thinking about replacing it.

So I have been really happy with both the Paperwhite and the Kindle store. But I have realised that I should be moving away from Amazon as it's not really a company I would like to keep supporting.

So what are the current best options out there. Mostly reading non fiction books, so no need for colour. But a bookstore with a good selection is critical.

Photo unrelated. But a great read/listen about the dust-bowls in the 1920's.

    Your opinion on HSE

    Hi.

I was curious about peoples opinion of HSE, especially in the context of the modern workplace.

It seems to be mostly nonsense. Or it seems to be about covering the asses of the management in case something actually happens at work, not really about keeping people safe. Mostly the solutions are to sign another piece of paper.

Especially the idea that every large accident is a consequence of a lot of small incidents that accumulates. This idea just seems made specifically to blame the people on the bottom of the hierarchy whenever something occurs.

    Anyways. HSE useful or not?

Edit: HSE - Health, safety and environment.
