Bookwyrm. You can even export your Goodreads data into it
Yea, I usually tell people to watch this episode then jump to season 3. If they love the show they’ll obviously go back to season 1 out of a curiosity
Hope your day improves. Never a good time for a flat tire
A thread is a Reddit equivalent and a microblog is a Twitter equivalent. So it really depends if you’re trying to start a discussion or just want to put something out there in my opinion
Yea, I’ve been enjoying Bookwyrm. Crazy how the fediverse is capable of providing everything. We just need more people willing to donate interested
Same. If I wasn’t still getting Hulu for free I’d be out
I’d recommend an RSS Reader. For example if you use Inoreader and subscribe to “tech” you’ll get a folder of a bunch of popular tech websites. Obviously you should get them yourselves too. But RSS is a great way to get a lot of news quickly and see consensus
This was my thought. First major outlet I’ve seen to even acknowledge Lemmy/Kbin…even if it’s to say they suck 😂
Check out Bookwrym. I’m currently maintaining that and Goodreads, but can’t wait until I can drop Goodreads
I use Inoreader and have been very happy with it
I imagine it’ll consolidate over time. But I don’t know if it’s better or worse to have one gigantic community or many small ones about the samething
I do like the Super Switch. But if the Switch is the standard going forward it’ll make the 3rd iteration a little difficult to name. So Switch 2 is fine
But we’re also assuming they’re going to make a Switch successor. Hopefully that is the case but I don’t quite trust Nintendo not to screw this up
It seems like there’s going to be a super premium tier for power users to cover that cost
That’s correct. Kbin offers both an ability to “toot” or an ability to create topical threads through its magazines
Mlem is basically Apollo for Lemmy. I’m enjoying Memmy too. Honestly the only value Reddit has is the user base. The diversity of apps and the lack of corporate ownership already make this space far more exciting than Reddit
Why iCloud?
I don’t think Reddit is going anywhere. It has too much market share. Everyone keeps predicting the death of Twitter and yet it’s still going despite letting go a large part of its workforce. I don’t see Reddit being as incompetently run in comparison
Look into the about page of whatever instance you signed up for. Most of them list the ways to offer support there through monthly Patreon’s or whatever
It’s also a good idea to throw a little money towards the project if you can. Some people are finding Lemmy a little controversial and throwing money at Kbin while using it hoping kbin can get up to speed quickly.
But if you can only support one your insurance admin is more important
It makes sense to me that our coordination would deteriorate over time. I’m not sure about the difference between 20 and 30 though. What you’re describing sounds pretty significant
