Has tipping in America reached a tipping point?
  • I'm no longer tipping just because the stupid kiosk asks me to and making me feel guilty... If it's not a normally tipped position such as server, bartender, or barista, I'm going to default to tapping no. It's gotten ridiculous.

  • He's not going to win a third term. And he won't be able to cheat into a third term. I'm not concerned about that.

The number of times he's flown right past that, things he's said or done that were guaranteed to lose him the election, or get him impeached and removed from office, or at least lose support among his base or Congress, or get him prosecuted, or or or...

Yeah, at this point, I'm not betting anything or anyone will realistically stop him.

And if you're betting on the Constitution blocking him from running again, remember that him being inaugurated is already a violation of the Constitution as an instigator of insurrection against the US government. Nobody is going to stop him. Do you really think it'll be different in '28? After 4 years of no longer solidifying but outright cementing his judiciary at all levels he can seat? With an executive branch that's been purged of non-loyal employees?

He's been underestimated at every step, except for the 2020 election, the one time he's truly lost anything. So you really think underestimating him now and expecting norms and laws to keep him in check when they've literally never done so is a good idea?!?

  • Wank tank confirmed
  • The reason is "mine is bigger than yours", almost entirely.

And expense, but the size and power numbers are most of what these people care about, like it makes them better than other people in smaller cars in their mind.

I'm pretty sure a lot of them think everyone driving something smaller is jealous and if they say they aren't jealous they're just lying to cover up that they can't be as awesome as big truck drivers

  • Why only cyclists should wear hi-viz in the dark? Cars can too!
  • One of my cars had running lights and always lit digital instrument cluster, but it still managed to hit that same heuristic, only in reverse: to be visible in the daylight, the instrument cluster had to get way brighter, so if the cluster feels absurdly bright, turn on the full headlights.

Nowadays, I think they include a light sensor to keep the cluster at a comfy level regardless of how bright it is, which I think should only be done for ones with automatic lights and only when they're set to automatic mode, but sadly nobody ever asks my opinion about these things

  • I assume it's to catch people's attention better

I find them annoying but I also used to find DRLs annoying and now I'm in favor of them as good safety, and I've not looked into the safety of flashing lights so I avoid taking a side on that one for now

  • Something to consider about Bulleit are accusations by the founder's daughter of sexual abuse and the company itself for firing her due to homophobia. Obviously there's no way to know for sure and both her father and the company deny it, but we all know that means absolutely nothing since they would deny whether it's true or not.

Not saying don't drink it, but it's something to be aware of if you care about those things at the very least.

(edit to correct the spelling of Bulleit, apparently even though I typed it out my phone decided I must have misspelled "bullet")
