  • My thoughts on Proxmox
  • I do wish Proxmox would move to a immutable architecture like TrueNAS. It should have a read only root with automatic rollbacks. Ideally there should be a overlay filesystem that allows for changes without compromising the underlying system.

  • What's better than GOG Galaxy?

Right now I am running GOG Galaxy in bottles and it is mostly stable. However, I don't like how GOG Galaxy constantly is showing ads and harvesting data.

What I am looking for is another Windows launcher that can manage GOG games. Ideally it should be simple and work with a controller.

I also need an alternative to the cloud sync. I think it might be possible to either use Syncthing to sync folders or to setup a network share and then use some scripting to save my progress once I'm done playing. The biggest issue I have is that I don't know how to import my GOG cloud saves into the offline installer.

Has anyone ever used IPFS for video streaming?

It seems like IPFS would be a decent choice for video content

    Btrfs should've been Wayland

I think the problem with btrfs is that it entered the spotlight way to early. With Wayland there was time to work on a lot of the kinks before everyone started seriously switching.

On btrfs a bunch of people switched blindly and then lost data. This caused many to have a bad impression of btrfs. These days it is significantly better but because there was so much fear there is less attention paid to it and it is less widely used.

Tell me why I shouldn't use btrfs

About a year ago I switched to ZFS for Proxmox so that I wouldn't be running technology preview.

Btrfs gave me no issues for years and I even replaced a dying disk with no issues. I use raid 1 for my Proxmox machines. Anyway I moved to ZFS and it has been a less that ideal experience. The separate kernel modules mean that I can't downgrade the kernel plus the performance on my hardware is abysmal. I get only like 50-100mb/s vs the several hundred I would get with btrfs.

Any reason I shouldn't go back to btrfs? There seems to be a community fear of btrfs eating data or having unexplainable errors. That is sad to hear as btrfs has had lots of time to mature in the last 8 years. I would never have considered it 5-6 years ago but now it seems like a solid choice.

Anyone else pondering or using btrfs? It seems like a solid choice.

    To whom it may concern,

I discovered your Summer Camp Slasher position on StabbedIn, and I would like to know more about this position. I am a relentless killer who is up for a new challenge in murdering teens at camp. I think that I would be a good fit for this position because I have the ability to teleport, survive being shot/stabbed/set on fire, and am a dedicated problem solver.

I have 40 years of experience in menacing camp counsellors and have multiple endorsements from various local police departments. I am a dedicated killer who will keep coming back until the job is done or I am relieved of the position.

I believe this position will be a good fit for me, and I believe I will bring a lot of dread to the camp. Thank you for your consideration for this position, I look forward to meeting to discuss this opportunity and demonstrate my skills. I can be reached at the listed phone number or via email at jvorhees@crystallake.com.

    Regards,

    Jason Vorhees

I accidentally sent an email to my entire department using "testicles" in place of "obstacles", how the hell can I fix this?

Part of my email which I sent to the department (nearly 200 people, including the VP) said "...and then we can overcome our obstacles", but for some reason I wrote it "and then we can overcome our testicles". This just happened. I have no idea what to do now. Please help!
