People use the idea that there's no way to change something simply to relieve themselves of the responsibility to change something.
  • Also as time goes by, I'm comfortable doing my part in the world and not taking responsibility for things beyond my control.

This is despite idealistic young people in one side wanting and fighting to save the world, good on them.

And despite corporate interests on the other side using the narrative of personal responsibility to deflect from their failures.

  • Trump spirals as bond deadline in fraud case nears
  • Then the question becomes, what's with the people who are not like you, who focus on Bidens age without attributing the same vulnerabilities to Trump?

Fully aware you're not expected to have the answer to that, you're not responsible for them folks.

  • In the show *South Park*, Stan/Kyle roughly represent the ideals the writers see themselves as striving for, while Cartman is who they subconsciously want to be
  • The point is to be okay with the part of us that wants to.

It's not about giving permission for bad behaviour.

If we deny that cartman lives inside us, he'll find another way out. This is why all the worst things humanity does are in the name of doing the right thing.

Because we pretend we don't have a cartman inside us, it's easy to pretend the messed up things he does must be coming from our stan or Kyle.
