Forceful impregnation, constant pregnancy, kicked and beaten calves and their mothers, separation of calves from the mother and their killing. Shall I go on?
There are some brands that emulate the taste of cow milk for those who want that is what I meant. Obviously my view is skewed given that I've been vegan for like 4 years
Fr. It tastes the same, barely taxing for the environment compared to cow milk (depending on the type of milk), plus you don't torture animals. Sounds like a win-win-win situation to me
Edit: Gimme your downvotes guys. I thrive on them 💅🏻
That's a grim thought. Never thought of that
That's pretty cool. Makes for more engaging gameplay, I imagine, since they're not just heal-botting
Great recommendations. Thanks a bunch
Now that's a game I've not heard about for a long time. How are they cool?
Just don't get hit fivehead
That's not how that works. If enough people boycott a service and show their displeasure, companies have to change something depending on how many people participate. It's the same thing when it comes to climate change, veganism, whatever. Every bit counts and subtracting oneself from all responsibility with this mentality is a little naive, imho.
You're bound to have a different experience as an employee, though. Can't comment on that. However, things would very likely change for the better, even for you, if Amazon's shady business practises were shunned even more than they already are. It's insane how much of their wrongdoings have been exposed over the past years and how little people actually care
Depends on what I need. Here in Germany, we have a bunch of electronics stores where you can get the same products for pretty much the same prices. Apart from that, I order from manufacturers' websites directly, buy second-hand and refurbished, local stores if needed
I wonder how many people on here still use Amazon
Time to kill? Looking for background noise while cooking or sleeping? I've got a couple soulslike videos for you!
Here are a couple of videos and video essays I've watched and enjoyed a lot in the past for numerous soulslikes. I can definitely recommend any of them and have sorted them by game. The length can vary a lot, so many of them are probably videos you'd wanna watch/listen to over the span of a couple of days. I've had loads of fun with them and recommend checking out the respective channels for sure.

As you might have guessed, I have a soft spot for Bloodborne and Lies of P wherein my personal standouts would be "Visceral Feminity" - a video essay that deals with Bloodborne's imagery and its parallelity to the female experience - and "How Lies of P Twists Pinocchio's Origins" - a video essay that explores the similarities between the original Pinocchio novel and Lies of P and shows how its lore and world building are translated for the game.
Do feel free to comment your favourite video essays about any of the soulslikes you can think of and are passionate about. I'll add it to the post's body so people have a nice comprehensive list to check out in the future. I'll also pin the post for a couple of weeks for visibility.
Enjoy :)
You can do both. The fact that they're so invested and passionate about the game gives them all the more reason to complain. You don't have to like something unconditionally and be exempt from complaining about practises that make your experience worse. Plus venting is a thing too?
I get where you're going, tho
Damn I remember playing it all the way through and unlocking that special character. I think they were white and had an arched back or something? Shooting spikes or pellets or something
Sometimes the difficulty isn't the problem, it seems, but the game (genre) itself. A bummer for sure but at least you did give it a fair shot.
Really makes you feel like you're being gatekept from asking for QoL changes
Oh yea I can imagine. I was fortunate, or unfortunate, enough to have Sekiro be pretty much the first FromSoft game I've ever played next to Bloodborne, so I didn't have a mold of habits to break. It was tough tho. I bounced off the game hard twice and didn't touch the game for several years. Having finished Bloodborne, I gave it another shot, didn't suck as abysmally as before and the rest is history.
You just need to fully accept the different gameplay loop to succeed. A little tip that helped me a lot was to just not move at all since that'll usually just throw you off mid-combo and only focus on parries and occasional dodged for unparriable attacks. That way, you're always perfectly lined up for parries and won't get hit by a stray polygon on the edge off the attack.
Let me know if you have any questions about anything concerning the game - maybe I can help somehow. :)
For anyone interested, shameless plug: !soulslike@lemmy.zip
It's a difficult game for sure. Probably the most difficult out of the FromSoft games. Not to feed into the meme but the game does click once you get to a certain boss in the game. The combat feels natural, you know what to do and how to do it usually etc. It's a really difficult game and the final boss might just be the most difficult I've ever had the displeasure of fighting against (they get a lot easier once you know what you're doing)
So you spam R1 with the sword, parry, switch to the dagger and insta-gib someone. How does the dagger work in PvE?
Fühle. Man liebt es, wenn man ernst genommen wird von Ärzt:innen
Applies to DS too
Did you like the weight system in Lies of P? I feel like it was cool that armour and looks were separate from another but the weight limitations were quite, well, limiting at times
5 years later - Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order
> Of all Star Wars games, it’d be tough to discern one that’s been as widely praised as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, and for the longest time its reign was fairly uncontested beyond classics such as entries in the Star Wars Battlefront series, Star Wars: Republic Commando, or Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. That said, this debate has had greater meat on its bones since Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order introduced Cal Kestis as a fledgling Padawan who witnessed Emperor Palpatine’s Order 66 firsthand when he lost his Jedi Master and fled to Bracca as a refugee in hiding.
> Respawn and EA’s Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order capitalizes on several gameplay genres—Soulslike, Metroidvania, platformer, and action-adventure—and melds them into a flavorful cocktail while never abandoning its immersive and unmistakable Star Wars atmosphere. Not since The Force Awakens has a Jedi-related Star Wars story felt as authentic, at least not without relying wholly on fan service. It’s not without its flaws, but Jedi: Fallen Order is a reminder, half a decade later, of how much potential for original storytelling and gripping gameplay still flows within Star Wars’ rich vein.
What are y'all's thoughts on the two games in general? I tried getting into it but just couldn't because the gameplay felt a little too action-y and too much like Uncharted vs Dark Souls or something
Everything we know about Hollow Knight: Silk Song
If you're holding out hope for Hollow Knight: Silksong news and updates before 2025, you are not alone
Christmas is fast approaching, and Hollow Knight: Silksong has the power to truly make it the most wonderful time of year. Team Cherry's long-awaited Metroidvania has been in the works for some fives years now, and despite the long wait, fans are running on little more than crumbs when it comes to intel. In fact, one of the most concrete facts we know about Hollow Knight Silksong is that it will be on Xbox Game Pass on day one.
Seven years since the first game launched, and despite the developer keeping things under wraps, the hype around Hollow Knight: Silksong seems to just keep growing - even though we have precious little confirmed. The long wait has made some fans antsy, getting the clown facepaint on at the drop of a hat after a hidden Hollow Knight Silksong update on its Steam page made hopeful hearts soar earlier this year. A 2023 controversy surrounding engine Unity's intended pay-per-download business model had made other Hollow Knight fans panic, with speculations that an engine swap could incur further delays on top of Silksong's initial postponement that pushed its launch date from early last year to sometime in the as-yet unknown future. Frustrating though the lack of information is, Team Cherry has reassured its restless players that Silksong is still very much in the works. Sounds like we will just have to keep being patient.
And the wait will hopefully be worth it. Hollow Knight Silksong stills ranks high on our list of new games of 2024, with or without a firm release date. If you're itching for more, here's everything you need to know about Hollow Knight: Silksong's delays, gameplay, and other news.
Follow-up to my recent post: /c/Soulslike!
I recently made a post here, promoting my other three communities. Someone suggested that creating one unified community for discussing all the soulslikes there are might be a better fit for Lemmy given its relatively small community. So I did just that!

Be sure to check it out if you're interested in any of the FromSoft games (DS1-3, Demon's Souls, Bloodborne etc.), Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order, Nioh, Lies of P - what have you!
I'll try to populate the community with posts in the coming days as to provide some content. Feel free to pop by and post something.
News, memes, discussion, art - all forms of content are welcome.
Cheers and thanks Cris!

The term soulslike is treated rather loosely here in the sense that games that incorporate mechanics from soulslikes may be discussed here too. The more the merrier :)
