IIRC, there was a lemmy port of autoshonenpon that was posting to the old ml manga community. However, the community was (and likely still is) too small to read most of what it posted and users were asking for it to be disabled so that it didn't clog up the community feed with posts that nobody commented on. This was more than a year ago now and I can't really devote the time to look it up (and just generally want to avoid the ml instance), so I don't have a link for you atm.
I wasn't a moderator in that community, but if somebody wanted to create an autoshonenpon-like bot for this community, I would be willing to let it run for a bit to get feedback from the current crop of users. I already run the anime discussion bot, so I would appreciate it if somebody else were to run the manga discussion bot.
First, I want to echo what I posted in the anime thread this week. Happy Thanksgiving this week to all my fellow US residents. However, that means I am traveling and staying with family this week. Most importantly, I do not have regular access to the internet while I am here (neither a land connection nor a reliable cell connection). So, apologies in advance for my delayed/reduced posting this week.
I discovered a series this week that I have really enjoyed and wanted to share here.
I randomly came across this series in the updates page on Mangadex and decided to check it out. The description there is extremely succint:
Oyacocco centers around the relationship between a single dad and his child.
I have really enjoyed what I read so far (up through chapter 5), and thought it could do with perhaps a better synopsis. So, here is my (spoiler-free) take:
Takashi is called back to his hometown, along with his wife, after his father falls ill and is hospitalized. Having left his alcoholic, single father after growing up, Takashi is surprised at the emotions that invade his thoughts as he explores his old hometown and sees his father infirmed. Remembering his turbulent childhood as an adult gives him a different perspective on the relationship with his father, his hometown, and his past.
If you couldn't tell from my version of the synopsis, prepare for emotions. The artstyle belies the very real and complex emotions being portrayed. One of my favorite things about this series is how the flashbacks are sudden and random, almost like intrusive thoughts. It is exactly like how old memories will come back to me suddenly and without warning sometimes from some kind of trigger. Also, the fact that he is going through all this while with his wife is fantastic. After just a couple chapters, the relationship that these two share is already very special.

The karma for Dan Da Dan came back down to a more normal level this week after the high of episode 7. However, don't mistake that for the show being more normal because it decidedly is not. Bleach is atop the AC rankings this week again, so the world is healing bit by bit.
Happy Thanksgiving week to those of us in the US this week. As befitting this holiday, I am traveling this week and staying with family. My connectivity is going to be extremely limited this week due to my hosts not having home internet and cell signal being near non-existent (essentially living off the grid unless I drive into town).
Why this is relevant to all of you, it means I won't be able to be as on the ball as normal with things like handling screenshots with rikka or posting as much news. On the good news side of things for me, I am going to be eating delicious food all week. On the bad news side of things for me, I will eat way too much.
One thing I wanted to call out in particular is to make sure you are subscribed to !dandadan@ani.social so that the new episode discussion thread is federated to your instance this week. I will be delayed in posting the link to it in this community on Thursday, so just go ahead and reach it directly. @GordonFreeman@ani.social has done an excellent job with the discussion posts this season, so I want to make sure people can access it even when I will be slow in posting a link to it.

"You and I Are Polar Opposites" Anime Adaptation Announced with Illustration

My understanding is that they stopped releasing the show regularly to allow the source to get ahead and finish up. Then, they have really put effort into adapting the end of the story with this TYBW arc. From what I have seen, the production since it has come back has been great.
My disclaimer though is that I stopped watching Bleach years ago (I think it was during the Bount arc?) because I got burnt out on it.
It's a lot of stupid fun. It's basically a parody of every harem trope you've ever seen. Really good production value as well.
I don't get the fate series at all...Where do I even begin?
Honestly, same. I haven't watched it, and, at this point, I'm not sure if I ever will.

That's an interesting approach. I wonder how she would handle controlling two bodies at once. Or, rather, I guess the splits are sentient on their own? Are they like Naruto's shadow clones? I hadn't really thought much about them until now, but they raise a lot of questions.
Is she thinking about the upcoming boss battle or about cookies? Truly an inscrutable one.

I use vp9 for my webm's as well fwiw. The configuration of the host can also impact things. For instance, if I direct link to an image on twitter, their configuration blocks lemmy from showing a thumbnail or expanding the size. So, that is why I tend to post visuals from Comic Natalie (their CDN plays nice), or just upload the image directly.

Why go through that whole diving sequence? It looks like she just got a quest pop up or something at the end, so perhaps we are going back underwater? Otherwise that felt out of place.
