US Secretary of State Antony Blinken hinted on Wednesday that Ukrainian forces could bomb Russia with military materiel supplied by the US, something they had previously been forbidden from doing.
"We have not encouraged or enabled strikes outside of Ukraine, but ultimately Ukraine has to make decisions for itself about how it's going to conduct this war," said Blinken, opening up the possibility of Western military materiel being used against Russian units located beyond Ukraine's borders.
This is actually pretty big. Kiev driving 2 himars to the north one with gmlrs and one atacms variant and the Belgorod region is pretty much f-ed
I think when a senior official like this says something, it's pretty close to being policy. It's kind of like a "soft launch" of the policy. He wouldn't have said it if the US didn't plan on going through with it.
When the United States Secretary of State says words like these, they have real meaning. This is not you and I shooting the bull over policy, this is the highest level of diplomacy in America speaking.
You may not have heard it, but Russia got the message loud and clear.
