Susan Louise Lorincz, 60, was convicted of manslaughter for killing unarmed Ajike "AJ” Owens in a case that tested the limits of the state's so-called "stand your ground" law.
Summary
Susan Louise Lorincz was sentenced to 25 years in prison for fatally shooting her Black neighbor, Ajike “AJ” Owens, through a locked door.
Lorincz’s defense argued that her PTSD led her to believe her life was in danger, but the judge found the shooting unnecessary.
The case tested Florida’s “stand your ground” law, with the sheriff concluding it did not apply in this instance.
This woman was so obviously racist and was looking for a reason to kill Ajike. She was constantly antagonistic towards her and her children. I'm pleased that she wasn't let off.
Honestly, it's not fully justice for her to get convicted of manslaughter. This was plain and simple murder. She had an excuse to murder someone she hated and she took it.
