Ex-Google CEO warns that 'perfect' AI girlfriends could spell trouble for young men
  • You know, the way this toxic bro culture has evolved, let them build their own romantic partners if actual human women aren’t good enough for them.

Personally, I love my authentic, human, beautiful complicated and unusual wife. I didn’t get to create her, but I’ve gotten to spend almost 20 years figuring her out and it’s been pretty great.

  • In the US, is this actually the moment past the point of no return?
  • This is based on nothing but vibes and my observations but I think so. We were cooked the moment we elected the clown the first time, just been a slower slide than I anticipated. In truth though we already had the disease at that point but it was then it became terminal.

I desperately want to be wrong and will do what I can to prove myself a moron. Fingers crossed.

  • Meh, they’ve been sliding down the hill for a while, at this point who cares when they go off the cliff.

still, just like I don’t care about red lobster, still gets under my skin whenever the gross corporate conglomerates further consolidate, especially with food or medicine. Oh well, better get used to it with what’s about to come…

  • What are some self hosted services that you think are essential?
  • Honest question, I’d love to host email but it seems like a huge pain in the ass these days with trying to keep from being delisted. Is there a decent, home user accessible email system that’s useable out there?

A decade ago it was easy and doable but even in professional life I don’t deal with email backend anymore, all google or o365.

  • I’ve been there. Used to work with a girl, had a huge crush on her and I assumed she did me as well. She used to hang out, we’d get lunch every day, she would sing songs at her desk and substitute my name, flirting was obvious to me and everyone in the place assumed we were in a relationship. Until I finally had the courage to ask her out.

    She was completely surprised.

Oh well, live and learn. Eventually found my wife and here we are almost 20 years later with kids. Eventually the right one will click.

  • Yeah, so...
  • Why do people pretend like a piece of paper matters. Trump has all the power and there are no checks and balances left. Imagine if he breaks the constitution, are zombie Washington, Jefferson and Franklin going to rise from the grave and enact vengeance?

Every rule that’s been broken was unbreakable until it was broken.

  • Trump's pick for top intel job has been accused of 'traitorous' parroting of Russian propaganda
  • I think thune shows exactly how little they are going to matter. the gop panicked since they caught the truck and had to do a secret ballot to get the establishment, next in line guy in place. if the fix wasn't in, they could have held a regular vote. instead all we can do now is hope that the party that has no spine, suddenly grows one.

  • Special counsel Jack Smith and his team to resign before Trump takes office
  • I'm always a fan of torturing a metaphor so yeah, exactly :)

It's been going on for ages but at this point I don't really blame the scorpion anymore. I certainly don't blame the hornets wearing t-shirts, I mean, I don't like them and I will try to exterminate them but not by trying to starve them out with scorpion overpopulation.
