Fair enough, but then you are kinda asking for it if youre doing fishy shit. They need, and i do mean need, to somehow verify the actions being done are from a normal user and not a botnet or other fishy activity...
Yes but also no. Played base game recently, and i had a lot of bugs and frustrations. Some of them because i ran it from hdd, which is not their recommended way of media to install on, but some were clearly design failures and bugs...
Some of them are good advise, but like any advise take it with a grain of salt and get to the core of the advise and that is what often goes missing.
Yolo is a good thing/example if we are talking about life experiences and just experiencing them. But that doesnt mean you should jump of a bridge without any safety cords or doing coke everything for the kicks haha.
It essientially means that if you can, do something new (safely) so you enjoy life instead of only living it.
Same holds for the other examples you gave.
But its a server setting to need phone verification. Im on a ton of servers and never provided them my phone number. One server changed access rights manually for my username because i refused to give discord my phone number when they enabled the verification requirement haha.
Also, their response is terrible haha
For me audio sharing doesnt work at all haha
Only in servers that enabled that verification. Its a server setting
Its a bug. Win11 recently did not cleanup temp nor updates files when the job ran to clean them up. A lot of people had 10's of gb of data that could be cleared, but wasnt
Exactly. Linux mint was fine on my laptop, but only later i had to upgrade kernel for the amd drivers, but overall its the closest to a spotless experience ive had. But what you said is 1000% correct!
Longer != difficult. Windows installs are easy as fuck and id say its as simple as linux mint.
The debloating is a choice and id say thats the same amount of work as installing stuff in linux because what it comes with is very limited.
Im a linux mint user btw
Eh, i wouldnt say they are better. They explicitly pulled all unreal games off all stores ( steam, epic store, gog, .. ), killed all servers and when asked acted like unreal never existed. They are pieces of shit for doing it and they had no real reason in doing so imo..
Vlc is basically what it is because of ffmpeg and the likes, which are... Corporate supported :p
That said ffmpeg didnt start that way, but at one point it was and vlc quickly jumped into popularity because of it and it quickly supporting new formats ( like mkv back in 2003/2004 ).
Youre not wrong, but its more complex than that xD
Very true, but in due time verizon could also be bought. Hence fcc should technically block it, like the nvidia and arm merge.
Or microsoft and activision ( which was heavily contested ).
Both were heavily contested worldwide
Thats stupid of the US to not block the merges again then.. :p
Sadly, it was just a proof of concept, writing random bits the size of the actual data to the plc. We swore it would result with the project being assigned to our company, but the other company's project manager quit soon after and we lost all contact with the company.. :(
I made a poc for a company that wanted to replace the way they programmed their pick and place robots that were powered by... Excel.
( the excel made an connection to the plc and wrote the data. It took 30+ minutes, while the poc took less than 3s xD )
Im not saying you are defending them, youre just missing a lot of stuff that happened around ai and nvidia in your comment and whatever genai we have now isnt all because of nvidia. That its locked to nvidia is because of what they did before ai hit public eyes.
Current genAI also has not much to do with nvidia besides programs being based on cuda which uses nvidia's tensor cores for neural processing. From a technical standpoint, nothing ai has to do with nvidia, they just played smart ( and unfair ).
Youre missing a lot of events in that timeline tbh :p
Nvidia forcing developers to use cuda enabled hardware, hard locking their tech to their hardware, the crypto boom of 2016 and 2020, ...
Theyve done a lot of stuff to gamers and datacenters over the past years that made them as powerful as they were when gpt3 hit the public eye.
Me? Im stearing far far away from them. I dont support that business at all.
Partly was nvidia drivers being a bitch, other part were me having to go through some loops because some bios settings were locked down and i couldnt change them
Framework 16 owner, i had similar things with the position of stuff. Whem i go to the office i need an eid read and mouse and moving the usb ports around made its easier for me to place everything so cables arent in the way.
Same with the audio jack, perfect placement now.
Indirectly, the laptop also allowed me to try linux decently for a while and see if i like it ( had dell laptop before it, and it was very annoying to run linux on )
Euh... How? Coming from somebody that has a dualboot system with tpm and secure boot lol
User icons in voyager
So, i was a liftoff user because the app was the app that looked the most like rif when i migrated away from reddit in july last year, but hasnt had updates since. With the lemmy.world update from a few hours ago its officially dead though which makes me sad as the others arent like it all. ANYWAY, now using voyager and trying to make it look to my tastes. So far so good, but seem to be missing user profile pictures/icons and some general flair/info i used to see in liftoff. Is this a missing feature in voyager? Do i enable it somewhere?
Ifixit gives fairphone 5 a 10/10 on repairability and maintanence
Is the Fairphone 5 just a repeat of a proven formula or a real improvement compared to its predecessors?
While they were happy with what the fairphone 4 brought to the table, they seem to like what was changed for the fairphone 5. What are you guys' opinions on this? A welcome change? would you get one if your phone died within the next year?
