The Witcher 4 has entered full-scale production, CD Projekt has confirmed
  • Do you mean quick time events (QTEs)? The game has at least one cutscene I remember where you're prompted to activate an ability to change the outcome, however, I think that's it. The games usually doesn't have them.

Although, it does commit an entirely different sin in terms of unskippable cutscenes: There are several 'immersive' cutscenes with you suddenly walking at a snail's pace or climbing slowly around while the cutscene plays out.

  • I sure hope so, I got quite burned on the last big budget game I've played years after the hype. God of War 2018 felt like a culmination of every wrong with gaming at that time (outside of mtx) and AAA games only got worse from there.

  • Rich people are dominating holiday travel
  • According to this website about 41% of US households make at least 6 figures pre-taxes. Not that rich apparently.

EDIT: Got the numbers mixed up, initially I wrote 59% - which is the percentage of people making less.

  • I do actually agree that Nutri-Score could incentivize companies to add better ingredient to their food. However, the high tolerance for sugar is a clear-cut sign for lobbying influencing the calculation, I'd presume. And of course, until you have to feature a Nutri-Score on your products, you could simply not include it instead of improving your products - which leads back to the original article.

But that aside, my main critique is that a score like this should be usable to compare different products. While an informed customer certainly does benefit from distinguishing an "A" from a "D" frozen pizza at first glance, just as many people may eat more frozen pizzas as a result of rating it "A" instead of going for inherently healthier choices simply due to their lower rating. After all, many people still think juice is inherently healthy despite it being the poster child for hidden sugar bombs.

  • Would you become a random animal for 6 months for 50 million of a random currency?
  • No, because I wouldn't leave my life with my loved ones behind for 6 months. However, since we're already in the realm of magic - I would totally do it if I'd be brought back to the moment I started afterwards. Being more or less immortal, there isn't too much danger and there's a chance I get to experience flying for example. I could discover the deep sea. Or I could hibernate. There are so many interesting things to learn.

However, there is one additional problem: Can I die of natural causes? Many insects don't even make it 6 months.

Anyways, the money is a nice bonus, but I'd do it without the reward if I cannot die within these 6 months. Given that there are about 180 currencies and my current one is rated ~6th, I probably will make a lot less than 50 million.

  • European consumer rights group Foodwatch is pushing for Nutri-Score, currently used in France, Germany and a handful other countries, to be adopted across the bloc.

Nutri-Score is kinda useless. The score isn't based on overall healthiness, it's based on how healthy something is within its group. The group isn't listed anywhere and its unclear what's in there. You could find a frozen pizza with a higher rating than hummus or soft drinks being rated the same as bottled water. I don't even notice the score anymore, I go straight to the ingredients and nutrition table.

EDIT: I did look into it again. Almost all scores are based on the same formula, however, the way it is calculated, it still does not make sense to compare scores across different products. Which is probably why I thought they are separated. Some of the actual problems with the Nutri-Score are as follows:

    • The threshold for sugar is way too high. About 90g a day are acceptable.
    • You can offset "bad nutrition" with "good nutrition". My example from above, bottled water having the same score as soft drinks, could be achieved by adding some vitamins or even fiber to offset the sugar. Which is why comparisons between different products don't make much sense.
    • Apparently the score isn't always based on what's actually in the product. Stuff like cocoa powder is rated based on how you'd consume it, e.g. dissolved in a glass of milk. You can improve your score simply by reducing the amount of powder recommended per glass. I don't know what the limit of this is, like improving your frozen pizza's score by recommending serving it with salad.

  • Dragon Ball DAIMA - Episode 7 discussion
  • This is a weird one. It's a solid episode for sure, and we've gotten some interesting stuff, but the pacing was suddenly quite different. I would have never thought we'd be right before the first Tamagami with Vegeta already being in the demon realm in the span of just one episode. By the way, kudos for getting the reason for the failing ship right - Bulma actually just didn't understand demon tech.

I think this is the first episode Shin actually felt like a real character. He did some of his usual explaining, but he also fought alongside the others, broke the collar and even revealed his actual name. Although, destroying the collar within minutes of explaining them felt quite anti-climactic. It does make a lot of sense, but it also contributes to the weird pacing.

Another first was Goku actually going for the easy solution right in front of him - teleporting. Mere seconds after me asking "Couldn't he just teleport?" Shin basically said the same.

The next episode seems to feature the best fight yet, judging by the preview. However, I don't think Goku will win just yet. For starters, it is time to face some actual adversity, but there is also a lot left to be resolved in the first demon realm. At least, I assume we will meet up with Vegeta and do something about the Gendarmerie - while they can travel between realms, their strangle hold seems to be only on the current one.

    Decks for starting out

    Greetings!

I'm fairly new to Master Duel and didn't play much Yu-Gi-Oh! in general for the past decade - you could say I'm a complete amateur.

Now, I've done most of the solo mode stuff to get to know some more archetypes and played the current Theme Chronicles event to the point where I got all obtainable gems with the vendread loaner deck. Luckily, the loaner was actually quite good, so I didn't need to build a deck. (Got all gems with a 22:8 win ratio.)

After all of this, I want to dive into ranked. For the solo mode stuff I've used an Endymion deck, which seems to be rouge at best - and I've only got the bare basics for the deck anyway (pretty much no extra deck). But now I have no clue which deck to go for. I don't know shit about the meta game and even less about the longterm viability of decks, as I don't want to spend all my ressources on building a deck that will banned soon anyway (like, Baronne seems like something that will be banned soon). Or worse, something that is simply unfun to play.

I don't particually enjoy stun decks and I'm not into all or nothing combo decks ending on a board full of generic boss monsters (looking at the new superheavy stuff). Is there something viable to start building, ideally with a low power version to test the strategy, before commiting to pulling/crafting all cards needed? (like, Mannadium would take all my ressources and it's gamble if I'd like it)

Got some minor troubles with Godot itself, am I missing settings?

I'm just starting out with Godot and I've run into some strange or unwanted behaviors. Maybe some of you can help me fix them. I'm currently running Godot on arch linux with x11/i3 as my desktop environment.

1.) Godot got some really aggressive focus. The editor grabs the focus mid typing in other applications and suddenly I'm tying there. With i3 being a tiling manager, Godot is sometimes passively resized when I resize another window - of course it also immediately gets itself focused and messed the resizing up.

2.) The focus within Godot is even stranger. I can ctrl c + ctrl v nodes just fine on a freshly opened project. But once I've a clicked a single property in the import or inspector docker, ctrl c + ctrl v will work exclusively there. Even if the import docker is hidden underneath the scene docker where I'm clicking the nodes I want to copy/paste.

3.) The last one is about using an external editor. Whenever Godot encounters a bug, it will automatically open the script in question. Which is annoying because I use vim for everything and will throw warnings at me, that the file has been changed. I've looked through all editor settings and tried setting vim as my external editor but the behavior persists.

How would you rank the mainline games you've played?

Basically, as the title says. I've got the itch to play another dragon quest game and would like to know how well regarded the ones are I didn't play yet compared to the ones I've played. Although I'll probably play IV in preparation for the upcoming DQM game, as I love those, maybe I've got time for two. Anyways, here's my list:

    1. DQ V (DS version)
    • It's got the overall best story thus far and includes monster taming, which I really liked. Overall just one of my favorite games.
    1. DQ VII (PS)
    • I'm oddly fond of VII. I'll acknowledge that it probably is not better than some of the following ones on paper, but it just clicked with me. I really like the beginning part of RPGs and VII got several of those with how disconnected it is at times.
    1. DQ XI (Switch)
    • I loved every second of XI and would probably rank it higher if the post-game wouldn't do what it does. While I really liked them later on, the Hero and both twins started off quite bland.
    1. DQ VIII (3DS)
    • The game itself is still really good, but it never grasped me with its story as the ones above did at times.
    1. DQ IX (DS)
    • IX never clicked with me at all. Having only silent no-names in you party already started off bad, but the overall story wasn't my cup of tea either. I generally like class systems, but this one didn't do it for me either.
