I just told my nearly-7-year-old she can join me on the next one, but probably going to wait until it's nice weather, being miserable at the start is just around for a miserable race.
Just ran one this morning (Thanksgiving) in the cold and rain. Puddles everywhere, my feet were soaked before the race even began. You're cold until you're not, so just remember that. Once you warm up it's ezpz, rain, cold, whatever.
The pessimist in me says defense is just not what it used to be.
I thought the M was silent, j'noe?
Yeah, that's what I want. Car manufacturers should just have them be always on, and that turning them off uses some mechanic where you have to be in park or something. I've just seen too many people who don't use them in the rain, and of course the folks who think their daytime lights are their headlights at night.
Mine too.
I'd even argue (this is what the Internet is for) that gray cars in rain are the absolute worst. They just disappear without any kind of lights on. I don't know why we don't just have headlights and taillights on all the time. It's how I've driven for the past 15 years, to me it just makes sense. I'm never caught forgetting to put them on when it's raining or when it's dark, because they are always on. I like people to see me, I do not want to be involved in a collision.
Only time I have no choice is when I've been putting that update off, and off, and off, for a while. I see that little orange dot but I either ignore it, or I snooze it, or whatever. And one day windows is like all right dude, you gotta do this, let's go.
My brother and I split the SNES when it came out (presumably with money our parents gave us because we were just kids), but he got gifted Super Mario RPG. And he held that shit over my head, and we didn't get a long, and he never let me play, and so it kinda solidified itself as my favorite game of all time, because it had this forbidden nature for me.
Putting all that aside, it was just a well made game, great pacing, great mechanics. I got the Switch version and I'm hoping to get my kids into it, but it's hard to compete with the looks of modern games, especially since my kids are young.
Ess Ness was always my silly way of pronouncing it, because there's Ness, for N-E-S, and if you add an S, it's S-Ness.
HOAs exist is a way toaintain shared services; i.e. insurances, utilities and roads, most importantly, but also things like clubhouses. Shit like this comes secondary.
When I'm "computering" for efficiency, I don't take my hands off the keyboard. Half of my job is on a standard keyboard, and so familiarizing myself with all the shortcuts and whatnot saves a lot of time versus having to travel back and forth to a mouse or track pad.
When I am just satisfying the dopamine urges, it's mouse all the way.
I am still using both. I have never been a big poster, but I like to think I can engage in discussion on just about anything, except Linux, and I really try (but fail) to avoid political shit, and so I'm sure you can see where I'm going with this.
But I'll keep coming back, I'll hopefully contribute in some mental way to the growth, and perhaps niche subs can grow in popularity. One of my personal favorite subs on Reddit is homeimprovement, and it's simply a matter of quantity as far as getting it just as good here.
Thanks, thought I was going ... bananas.
You made me reread the post looking for any there, their, of even they're.
I don't know what you mean. I thought California was one of the states that banned private prisons, but I live on the other side of the country, in NJ, where we've also banned private prisons, and are trying to stop the feds from putting private immigration detention centers in too.
If you mean prisons in general, I think that's a different discussion.
I feel like I understand but if you can elaborate on the last part I'd appreciate it. And I just mean it seems to extend far beyond just capitalism, although that's surely a driving factor. It's hard to remove capitalism from a place that basically was made by people trying to hang on to their money.
In parts of the US. I hate living in a progressive state and getting lumped in with the backward ass parts of the country. This problem in particular differs across state lines. Unfortunately the best I can hope for now is for my state to be left alone.
This time it's Ark.
Otherwise, I'm with you. Anything you want, best to have it local.
My experience so far on Lemmy.
A technical disaster, but sure, I'll keep coming back. Can't wait to reminisce about the days when it was a technical disaster, though.
Also, posted from my PC, because doing anything on Jerboa has proven impossible.

Love to see it, and I want to see more of it. Anyone who did this absolutely deserves what they have coming to them.
