I worry a lot more about Dems appeasing the GOP at this moment. Unlike Trumps first election, there is now basically no resistance, and there’s already infighting among Democrats. Someone who unites the party must stand up now, or I don’t see any improvement in the midterms.
I don’t know details, but the nr 2 and 3 were extremely close. Since there will be a runoff between the nr1 and 2, a recount makes sense.
The problem I have with this point of view is that it describes the DNC as an enormous entity, when in reality they are a small organisation that mostly gets its financing from individual campaigns (especially the presidential campaign).
The issue the progressives face is not the DNC but systemic issues with politics in the US. A big issue is the reliance on campaign contributions by the rich. Another issue is the media environment. The DNC is just a tiny cog in a much larger machine.
Of course they were taking it seriously. You can criticise the strategy, but clearly they took it very seriously.
Here’s the thing: the economy is picking up steam quickly as it always does when Democrats are in charge. If Trump does nothing (and no pandemic hits) he will cruise to a third term (and yes that’s with this SC.
Elite in their mind are people who do expert jobs, take home their paycheck and nothing more because they care about their job, such as scientists, teachers etc. People like Elon are rich and therefore by definition better than experts. Same goes for Trump: his corruption and criminal behaviour is what makes him smart.
But gingers don’t have a soul so I guess it’s fine?
I do see a difference between commercial applications by Google and seismic activities mapping by Stanford. Also if it comes from a university you know it’s been approved by some ethics board. Not saying those are perfect, but definitely better than Google.
Wasn’t there a candidate during the last election who wanted to legalise cannabis?
It’s partly the way that non-Trump campaigns are run. They hire a ton of pollsters/consultants that do focus groups to find out voters points of view. They never consider the scenario in which a good candidate can change the worldview of the voters. So it sounds like the candidate never had an original thought in the world, when voters actually want a leader.
I think you are touching on some real issues, BUT the Harris campaign never said that the economy was doing great. They very deliberately avoided that message (though Biden was very different).
They are taught to few the world as a zero sum game. What they do not realise is that they are the losers.
I can simultaneously lend support and analyze why the probability of success is quite small. Anyway, this is an anonymous forum. Start a petition and I will sign it with my name.
Sorry I did not mean to both-side it. I am well aware that a union push will never come from the GOP. The main point was that because everything has become politicized there are no independent voices that can call for a national strike. If you want to dive deeper into why all is politicised you obviously come back to the conservative sphere (FOX, etc), so this is definitely not a both sides are bad argument.
Yes, but it is really inefficient. If we simply ignore the nuke threat it would probably take the US a month of bombing to restore pre 2014 borders.
I am guessing that outside of the frontlines bombings are still fairly rare events. Risk is low enough for installing proper windows, but high enough to ensure there are not enough.
This already started with the Vietnam war, where France warned the US not to get involved. There’s a lesson here but I can’t quite put my finger on it.
The first problem is the polarisation. If people that are perceived to be Democrats call out a general strike, 50 percent won’t participate. Vice versa if perceived GOP does this. The polarisation and politicisation of every topic is what stops you from organising effectively.
To be honest I was very worried that he would assign competent and evil people to his cabinet positions. Somewhat relieved that he has only appointed clowns so far.
Then stop upvoting this stuff! During election time every damn article upvoted here was about i.) horse race reporting or ii.) Trump outrage. We have to stop clicking these links and sharing the articles.
