  • I think I saw that they pumped interest up to like 21% at this point to control inflation. Could you imagine? It's like 7% here in the US and it has made me -very- content with my current vehicle and house.....

  • Cleaned the refrigerator vent on schedule

Doing this at least once or twice a year is sure to maximize the life expectancy of your refrigeration appliances.

Was America ever really made for you and me?
  • Well, I just saw a news article today about how Trump was immediately going to kick every trans person out of the military. Also been seeing articles for years now about Republicans trying to ban sexual realignment surgery even for adults. So what more proof do we need that there's a problem?

  • Walmart just leveled with Americans: China won’t be paying for Trump’s tariffs, in all likelihood you will
  • No matter how you slice it, it simply ends in America's living with a "lowered" quality of life. The reason we buy things from overseas is because it was cheaper and nobody wanted to pay for the expensive American version. Even the current high-end American products we have will find themselves struggling when people have to pick and choose what they can afford going forward.

I'm also a little indifferent about the whole thing. I just think its going to be hilarious if it goes down and people end up struggling even more after voting Trump. I'll have my schadenfreude-popcorn ready constantly to munch on over the next four years.

  • Tropicana juice cartons now 1.75L in my area - used to be 1.89L
  • Been trying to cut premade/prepackaged food out of my diet lately because of health, but also because of this sorta thing. The closer the food is to its original form, the less opportunity for middlemen to come in and take an extra cut.

  • Musk and Ramaswamy float ending remote work for federal employees and ‘large-scale firings’
  • Yeah, I am a little concerned about that too, but I can tell you that it is going to take YEARS of work to gut legislation like that. I am hoping that even with a Republican trifecta, they still won't be able to agree on and accomplish anything because they all hate eachother.

  • Musk and Ramaswamy float ending remote work for federal employees and ‘large-scale firings’
  • Can't wait until they fire the employees i need to review my environmental permit submittals and then can never get another project started legally ever again without risking insane amounts of fines four years later when the next administration comes in and hires new people.

  • Most recommended can opener?

I've found myself looking for a really good can opener. I purchased my last one, a KitchenAid, from Target and I've been disappointed in it the whole time. Sometimes it doesn't puncture the lid right, and it feels like it got rusty kinda fast--not at all what I want out of a utensil I hoped would last for a decade or more (who wants to keep buying can openers? lol).

I'm looking for a manual handheld can opener. I've always had the type that opens from the top, but a little bit of Googling shows that there are types that open from the side. I'm in the USA if that matters!
