I've never followed Joe Rogan, so I'm a bit ignorant here. Didn't he used to be really popular? What changed, did he become right wing or get really into conspiracies or something?
Honestly not having a dpad and second thumbstick is a deal breaker for me on the original steam controller, it means that most games with built in controller support don't work well without switching to a custom or community layout. I think having a "normal" controller layout + trackpads/etc is necessary for the controller to succeed.
Additionally, having this layout means it will match the Steam Deck, which should make all control profiles interchangable.
There was a request to halt sales until the specific mechanics were removed, with the mechanics being throwing pokeball like items and riding monsters.
That lawsuit might take years, and the requested damages from Nintendo are only $66,000. Palworld isn't going to be shut down anytime soon, even if they lose the case.
The steam deck is much wider than a normal controller, so much less of an angle is needed for a comfortable grip. There's a reason that most handhelds (Switch, Rog Ally, Lenovo Go, Wii U gamepad, etc) don't have angled grips.
I find the regular steam deck to be very comfortable for it's size and weight.
There were similar concerns when the steam deck was first revealed, and it works fine. So I'm not too worried.
Honestly, the biggest issue with the original was that it's non-traditional layout meant that games with built in controller support didn't necessarily work well on it. This layout will make it full featured as a "normal controller", while offering additional input options when the game benefits from it.
There will probably be gamingonlinux/steamdeckhq articles in the morning, but for now this is the only source.
He's a well known steam data miner, it's not just a random Twitter user claiming to have a leak.
Steam Controller 2 render thumbnail leaked in SteamVR drivers
It's not the clearest photo, but it clearly has both 2 thumb sticks and 2 track pads.
Obvious examples are countries like Russia, China, North Korea, etc. Russia specifically passed laws banning misinformation in 2020, and later fined google millions of dollars over it.
To be fair, it's also shown on a PS Vita. So the thumbnail was basically equivalent to showing Sackboy in a graveyard.
Great game, it and the original Pixel Dungeon were my most played phone games for years.
Another high quality mobile experience I can't recommend enough is Slice & Dice. Gameplay is quite different from Pixel Dungeon, but it's basically replaced all other phone games for me. Been playing it almost continuously now for the past 3 years.
Yeah, games like DRG prove that season xp/unlocks can be fun and rewarding. But the key there is that:
- It's completely free
- You can replay old seasons anytime, so there's no cosmetics that you miss out on if you don't finish by the end of the season
Done like that, it's a fun system that gives you extra rewards for playing. But there's never any punishment for not playing enough in a fixed period of time.
Misinformation laws can quickly get 1984-ish. In the US both political parties have different ideas on what's true and what's misinformation, I don't really like the idea of criminalizing "misinformation" when the accepted narrative will change every 4-8 years.
Edit: Surprisingly, this is now one of my most downvoted comments ever on Lemmy. Do you guys really want the government deciding what you can or can't say online?
Once you've added lutris to Steam, you'll be able to launch games through it from game mode. However, I would only try to install new games through it in desktop mode, due to the number of windows it opens during installs.
Miniaturized hardware is still “likely years away from launch.”…
It's still "years away", similar to the Xbox handheld.
I really respect the effort put into seeing a joke through to being a real game.
Could just be the types of games I play, but it's really rare for me to run into a game that doesn't work out of the box these days. And Disgaea has always had a fair bit of brand recognition imo.
Valve have updated Proton Experimental, the testing-ground for new features and fixes for their Windows compatibility layer for Steam Deck and Desktop Linux. Here's what's new for November 25th.
In my experience there are two types of Calvinists. One group is actually really chill, they'll explain their beliefs but they're not pushy, because anyone meant to be saved will be. They also aren't real concerned about being public morality police because they expect sinners to behave like sinners.
The other group literally is just Calvinists because it's a way to consider themselves intrinsically better than other people, because they're chosen and others aren't.
That link was just specifying that there was a difference between adaptive charging on the pixel 4, and later pixels. All pixel phones from 4 onwards have it, but I'm guessing it's a pixel software specific feature.
I have a pixel phone, and it may be a pixel specific feature rather than a default android feature.
Here's Google's webpage on it.
Razer is selling some awesome Steam Deck skins, and I may just have to check out a few of them.
To view more details or buy them, go to this page, select "console" and then "Steam Deck". They generally cost between $35-40 USD.
“Tears in rain” Roy, not Fire Emblem Roy.
Two big things have arrived. The first is that you can attempt to grab the sleek looking Steam Deck OLED: Limited Edition White right now, and the Steam Deck is now available in Australia.
We've known these were coming for awhile, but now they're finally out and ready for purchase.
Xbox boss confirms a handheld console is in the works
> the CEO of Microsoft Gaming, Phil Spencer, has revealed in a Bloomberg interview that Xbox handheld prototypes are currently being worked on. The caveat is that this hardware is still a few years out. So it would appear the rumors that Microsoft is working on an Xbox handheld are indeed true, but we sadly won't see the results of this work for some time.
This isn't technically Steam Deck news, but I think a major player like Microsoft making a Steam Deck competitor is pretty significant as far as the handheld PC market goes.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition gets updated, needs a fix on Steam Deck
Rockstar Games decided to update the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition which includes Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and Grand Theft Auto III but it seems you'll need this quick fix to run it now on Steam Deck.
> Various players have been reporting a "Fatal error" being encountered when trying to play any of them. However, there's two workarounds I know of to get around it. What's interesting is that this might be specific to the Steam Deck OLED, as it's to do with HDR not working. So you can try this launch option first:
DXVK_HDR=0 %command%
> To do this. Go into the game in your Steam Library, over to the little cog icon on the right for the Properties, and put that in the Launch Options box.
> Another potential workaround is to force DirectX 12 for it:
%command% -dx12
Overkill is doing their annual Steam Deck survey
The third annual State of Steam Deck survey is now open. Share your thoughts on Valve's portable gaming powerhouse.
If you have time, please consider filing one out. The results will be posted in a few weeks, and should give an interesting look into steam deck users, and how owning a deck has changed their gaming habits.

Over 17 Million Hours of Baldur's Gate 3 on Steam Deck
It was confirmed that there's a total of over 17 million hours played of Baldur's Gate 3 on Steam Deck.
Here's the original source, a tweet from Very AFK who is a Larian dev.
> Over 17,223,529 hours of Baldur's Gate 3 has been played on Steam Deck. We should partner with someone to do a special edition 100w battery. A little bag of holding, you know, for ur juice.
You can preorder it ahead of its December 16th release.
$60, has capacitive joysticks, gyro, steam menu buttons, and 4 extra buttons. Fully supported in Steam Input.
However, no track pads or vibration.
What games are you playing on your deck? - November 2024
Sorry, bit late on this one. Life's been hectic.
A community-made mod is being created to put an OLED panel into your Steam Deck LCD, and it looks awesome.
Valve announced a change for Steam today that will make things a lot clearer for everyone, as developers will now need to clearly list the kernel-level anti-cheat used on Steam store pages.
Developers will be required to disclose if their game uses kernel anti-cheat. This applies to both new games and existing games. Non-kernel anti-cheat is encouraged to be disclosed as well, but it's only mandatory for developers to declare if they're using kernel anti-cheat for the time being.
It's worth mentioning that many games use kernel anti-cheat on windows, but only use user space anti-cheat on Steam Deck and Linux.
SteamOS 3.6 has officially been released into stable with performance improvements, mura compensation, and so much more.
Valve released a new update to Proton Experimental with a big change for how they handle video playback, and hopefully give a nice compatibility boost for Windows games on Steam Deck and Desktop Linux.
