Based. Btrfs it is. Sounds like a really cool filesystem.
I'm currently daily driving Linux so I'm not planning on ever going back to Windows. No need to worry about that.
Oh, I haven't heard of that. I'll look into it. Btrfs subvolumes seem a bit more practical tho
Because I want to, if I like the experience, just keep the installed OS and delete my primary OS. Using a VM, if I end up liking the simulated OS, I have to install it and set it up anew.
If I understood correctly. Btrfs is a file system? So I'd need to re-install my distro using Btrfs? Let's say I do that, I reinstall Zorin on Btrfs, and then I want to also install Silverblue. Would I be able to then remove Zorin and keep only Silverblue?
But will I be able to eventually remove OS #1 and switch to the one installed afterwards?
That doesn't solve my problem, since I want to eventually erase OS #1 and permanently switch to OS #2, which I won't be able to do if I use a VM.
Dual-booting as an intermediate phase for fully switching OSs
Hi all,
I'm currently using Zorin OS, but I'd like to perhaps explore other Linux distributions. Is it possible to dual-boot another distro, and then if I'm satisfied and after having installed all the apps I need, to erase my Zorin OS partition and only use the other, new distro?
Are you willing to die for privacy?
I watched the TV show before I even knew of the book. It's a really good show.
thank FUCK
Currently reading Asimov's A Pebble in the Sky... It's lovely so far. Kind of creepy vibes too.
Nevermind, it's because I had it installed from Google (🤮) Play Store.
Do you know if there are any writeups on this identification of falsw positives?
I use a Kobo Libra 2. It was super easy to install KOReader and it just works.
I wish I could've been better for her. But, I couldn't and I guess if she's happier now I'm happy for her too.
Asking out of ignorance, is there anything wrong with NewPipe rn?
yuck
Then in good faith I believe that no, it's not because of the boogeyman.
Books about falling in love as a Christian
Hey y'all. I'm in a precarious situation right now. Yes, I am falling in love with someone and I want to approach this in a faithful way. My previous relationships included me putting the other person above everything basically, but I want to put God in the first place this time. It's probably healthier this way. Any Christian books about phenomenology of love or falling in love that you know of?

Best jurisdiction for exit nodes?
I was wondering, which country's exit nodes (VPN) do you use and why? Are some countries better than others (in terms of jurisdiction and laws, not latency)?
Reading order?
Does anyone have a reading order which makes the most sense for someone who's never read or watched anything Dune? Thank you in advance!
What did Paul mean in the Epistle to Philemon 19?
(NCB) Phm 19
>I, Paul, am writing this with my own hand: I will repay it. I say nothing about the fact that you owe me your very self.
Context:
Paul is telling Philemon that Paul himself will repay the debt that Philemon's slave, Onesimus, owes him. He is saying this to Philemon so he would take his slave back, after Onesimus has turned to Christ and has become Paul's pupil.
Now, my question is why does Philemon owe Paul his very self? In some other translation, the word life is used instead of self.
The whole epistle can be found here.
Other books in the Metro universe?
I'm trying to read some more books (canon) set in the Metro universe. The books don't have to be written by Dmitry Glukhovsky, I'm just looking for some recommendations to expand my knowledge of the lore. Bonus points for chronological ordering! Ty
Using Discord in a private way?
Hi all,
I haven't used Discord in a while, but it became so that now I have to use it for communication with certain people getting support for some services that I use. What I'm doing currently is:
- using a separate randomised e-mail address only for the Discord account
- using a randomly generated username
- no profile picture
- tweaking the settings as best I can for privacy
Other than these points, I'm also being wary of talking about anything personal on Discord. Would you add anything so I can be even safer when using Discord?
Thoughts on the Notesnook v3 update?
From August 2023 to April 2024, after 8 months, 1000+ commits, and countless sleepless nights v3 is finally here — the biggest, most feature packed release in the history of Notesnook.
I want to hear your opinions on the technical changes of the new Notesnook update.
Notesnook v3 is out. Thoughts on the changes?

I wonder what my fellow lemmygoers think about the new Notesnook updates, privacy and security-wise.
Sideloading apps on hostingby.design?
Does anyone know if it's possible to sideload apps on HBD? I really want to install AudioBookShelf, but support says that it's not available officially yet.
Something similar to WinCompose?
Hi all,
I've switched to Linux only recently, and am very sad that I had to abandon WinCompose. For those who don't know, it is a taskbar application which allows you to toggle "compose-mode" with your R-Alt key and then combine multiple keystrokes to create special characters in an intuitive way. For example, Alt -> U -> "-" becomes Ū. Is there an alternative to this for Linux? I'm on Zorin OS 17.1 Core, specifically. To clarify, I'm not looking for a symbol table add-on. I'm looking for something that I can utilise with only my keyboard.
Thanks in advance!
Za koga planirate glasati? Zašto?
Zanima me kako su Hreminzi (HR + Leming) politički orijentirani. Ja osobno planiram glasati za Radničku Frontu. Jednostavno se najviše poklapaju s mojim svjetonazorom. Mogu prihvatiti i Možemo.
KeePassXC w/ FF browser add-on on Zorin OS 17.1?
Hi all,
I was wondering whether anyone uses KeePassXC with the Firefox browser add-on on Zorin OS. I can't get the browser add-on to recognize the app. I spent a better part of yesterday trying to figure out a solution but just can't seem to get it to work. Any help?
