NY doesn't claim to have the the best Philly cheese steak, but it dominates in cold cut heroes. As far as hot heroes go, it's also going throw down hard when it comes to meatball parms and chicken cutlet sandwiches. NY has some pretty bad cheese steaks, Philly can have that one. Also Pat's and Geno's may as well be rat meat. Not discounting the many good places but the tourist trap spots are atrocious.
Growing up in the NY area I was surprised and saddened when I found out that Delis are not available everywhere. It's such a staple in NY. I remember having a chain/fast food hero for the first time and I was confused when they gently laid down 6 pieces of ham across bread and called it a sandwich. Then when they ring it up it costs just as much if not more as an Italian Combo that is stacked with like 1/2lb of boars head deli meats and imported provalogne.
Don't get me wrong, other places have good Delis here and there, but the density of them is not the same. In NYC and surrounding area, there are several delis in every neighborhood. And they are all going to offer something that a Jersey Mike's or Subway will never be able to measure up to.
Yeah, Connecticut and Massachusetts do not share the same accent. Western Massachusetts is specifically wild. Go fuck yourself, Cuffy is a pretty great example. Connecticut doesn't really have an accent as far as I can tell. It's just the generic white people accent. Which is basically the same as NY. And no, the New York accent is not "I'm drinkin' waaahtaaa ovaaah heeeea". Maybe some very specific Italian neighborhoods in Brooklyn, but that's about it.

What a fantastic story! I could feel the warm sun, and taste the fresh vegetables. It really brought a smile to my face. I remember growing up in the late 80's and my parents had an old man neighbor with a garden. He used to give tomatoes to me and my siblings and we would sit on the back steps with a salt shaker and just shake some salt on them and eat them like they were apples. They were delicious! For years I have wondered if my memory was serving me wrong, or if tomatoes have just gotten flavorless over the years. I'm happy to hear it's not just me.

Working in IT - Desktop support. One of my co workers picked up a ticket to go replace a keyboard in HR. HR was in a different building and it was mid winter and really cold out. He grabbed his coat and walked over there to replace the keyboard. Apparently he had a fat stanky bag of weed in his coat pocket. It was apparently very noticeable. A phone call was made before he even got back, and he was immediately let go.
This was before any kind of legalization existed in the area.

As a fellow tall, I don't even buy things unless they are "T" sized anymore. Gave up on it a long time ago. My shirt size is "XLT". There are sometimes things like work events or other places where they are giving away T shirts and they ask for my size and I tell them XLT and they are like "How about XXL?" and I'm like "No". I don't need to add another ill-fitting t shirt to the pile of shirts I will never wear.
Kohl's has a big and tall section that is pretty reliable. The past few years I have been stocking up on Tommy Bahama clothing. I have a relative who works pretty high up the chain for their corporate office so I am able to get a discount which brings the price of their clothing down from "outrageously expensive" to "still pretty expensive". It's damn good quality clothing though. I have the Big & Tall Bali Skyline T-shirt in every color. It's probably the most comfortable thing I have ever worn.

Mentioned this in another comment. Take that second dism line, and put it in a batch script and make it a scheduled task that runs at login. Or use a Powershell script to make it a little smarter - check if it's enabled first and then disable it if it is.

You need to make a Powershell script or batch that uninstalls/turns off the feature and then make a scheduled task that runs the ps1/bat at login.
Its insane that this is what you have to do to keep this shit off your system, but it's effective.
I had to do this with New Outlook because it kept reinstalling after Windows updates.
I want to get into coffee, where do I start?
So I have drank coffee on and off since I was a teenager, and I recently took probably a 2 year break from it. When I was drinking coffee, it was usually because they had a pod system at work, and it was an excuse to get up from my desk and take a break. With that said, I have been watching this Netflix show Resident Alien recently, and there is a lot of coffee drinking in it, and I started craving a hot cup. On my way home from dropping my daughter off at daycare, I stopped at the local gas station\market and got a cup and was like "Man, I miss coffee, and this coffee is pretty terrible."
So this got me thinking that I want to get back into morning coffee tradition, but I no longer work in an office, I work from home. I don't want to go pod system because they are wasteful, weak, and a pain in the but to clean\maintain. My wife doesn't drink coffee, so I don't need to make a whole pot. So I was thinking of going French press, as that seems to be suggested in a lot of places for single-serve.
Do you folks have a suggestion on French press brands? I know it's a pretty simple mechanism, but I'm not against spending a couple extra bucks to get something that will enhance my coffee making\drinking experience. Additionally, I am looking for something that will filter out as many grounds as possible. Are you guys for\against paper filters? Should I get a metal one? Do I need one of those things that goes on top of my mug to hold the filter? Where do I start?
I know coffee can get really mad scientist really quick, and I'm not trying to go that route (yet). My brother-in-law has one of those electric kettles that gets to an exact temperature, and he grinds his own beans and weights them, and does the whole swirly pour to get "the perfect cup" and while that seems cool, I am not ready to take it to that level.
So what is your suggestion on "starter builds"?
Also, what about beans? Do I grind my own? Do I start with store bought stuff (I always liked Cafe Bustelo)?
Any and all advice is welcome.
Edit: I also forgot to add - I have read about cold brewing being really smooth. How do I cold brew and heat it back up? Do people do that? Would love to hear more about it.
Edit2: Oh man, this community is awesome! I didn't expect so many great responses. Pulling the trigger on an Aeropress after reading all the comments here and watching some James Hoffman videos about it. It definitely looks like the right fit for me. I'm not going to get a grinder quite yet, as I feel like I am just beginning my journey and I don't want to go balls to the wall right out the gate. There is a coffee shop right down the street from me that sells\grinds beans, so that sounds like the best bet for trying different things.
Sxan mentioned the Toddy's kit, and that also has my interest. Maybe that's next after a grinder. I have a feeling I am about to go down an expensive caffeine fueled rabbit hole. Wish me luck. I will report back.
Anyway to get Samsung Smart Tags to work on Pixel 8?
I have been living in the Samsung ecosystem for quite a long time now, and i finally decided to make the switch to Pixel because the 8 looked pretty great, and it was time for a new phone.
Big surprise to me, is that I can no longer use any of my Samsung Smart Tags, which I have quite a few of (Dog collar, Luggage, Car, eScooter, Keys, Backpack, etc).
I am pretty upset with this, as I purchased the smart tag pro's, and it wasn't exactly cheap. I previously had some Tile devices, but I found them to be incredibly unreliable, and I really don't want to have to re-purchase a bunch of devices and the things that hold them (collar, waterproof container etc).
With all of that said, is there any unofficial way to get the Samsung smart devices working on a Pixel? From my understanding, they are just bluetooth devices. I don't see why there would be any physical restriction to pairing them to my Pixel, it's just the software stopping it. Like is there some kind of jailbroken Samsung Smart Things apk that tells the app that you're on a Samsung device? I've looked around but haven't had much luck finding antyhing, so I thought I might ask here.
