Here we are
  • That is correct. The state legislatures generally (if not always) picked the senators, but due to huge state corruption, it was almost always political qui pro quo, and some states even going full terms without selecting sla sentaor. This led to the 17th amendment (which you'll here rednecks and/or white supremacists asposing, because states' rights.)

Edit to add: Wikipedia knows it better than I do.

  • The State of Play
  • I grew up I a predominantly white neighborhood in a very segregated city, and I heard people harping on riots and unrest in the blacker areas and how that was bad for their neighborhoods. It wasn't until I was older that I heard the argument that the buildings they were looting or burning weren't part of their community. If a large company put a store in their neighborhood and it got looted, it wasn't bad for their community became none of the success of that company was shared by the company - they were essentially just extracting wealth from the area. Some areas having already been flipping the board. We're just getting to the point that more are ready to say "fuck boardwalk!"

  • Are the people voting third party in the US election going to suddenly stop commenting on Nov 6th when their candidate obviously loses?
  • That is true. I say this because there is money that flows in through intermediaries(though still illegal, undoubtedly happens), but I also incorrectly conflated monetary support for foreign interests with money from foreign entities - my apology.

  • I voted third party for my congressional rep. I have the privilege of living in a solid blue district and I did it is a protest, but also because I like the candidate more than the blue candidate. I voted for my favored candidate in the primary, but she lost to a heavily AIPAC funded candidate. I disagree with Israel's actions and the amount of foreign money in domestic elections. I've told very few people this, whether in person or online - more than anything I want it to represent statistical dissent. I would never consider my vote if there were an even remote possibility of the right winger taking the seat.

  • The gas Giants are huge, like really really huge. Jupiter and Saturn have more than that. The rings from Saturn are probably from moons, but not necessarily colliding, but getting close enough to the planet to reach the Roche Limit.

  • Visiting Nashville (Brentwood)

Hey all, I'm visiting Nashville (Brentwood) with my dad this next week and was hoping for some local input on fun things to do, places to see, etc… One thing I'd really like to find is a good beer bar (wide selection, especially local offerings) that has trivia either Tuesday or Wednesday night. Good places to eat during the week would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you all in advance! 🤙
