I'll never have the cathartic moment I was dreaming about when I was a teenager where I learn martial arts and get to beat the crap out of some massive asshole who totally deserves it and everyone in the room would agree. I did the hard part of learning martial arts but I'm just not hot-headed enough to fight someone anymore. I resolve conflicts with words and any time I've had to defend myself, I've just kind of been able to separate myself from the initiator without really hurting anybody and they gave up once they didn't have a hold of me. There aren't many realistic scenarios where I have absolutely no choice but to hurt someone, and I can see those scenarios ahead of time and avoid them anyway.

I definitely just assumed they were supposed to be beneficial and didn't think much of it until I lost a run because I upgraded the vial of blood to +3. Now I often don't use them, or consider energizing it if I don't get one I think will be useful.
I was using it for Hollow Knight and sometimes Warframe so I might have been a little more intense with it. I think the issue was with the grip buttons.

What is the best way to use the Battlemage?
I feel like I can't get the Battlemage to work for me. The bonus effect on the staff is very cool and I feel like I see some theoretical synergies with artifacts that can be charged quickly with melee strikes, but in practice it seems like I always eventually run short on resources and can't output the damage I need.
