But who steals from the thieves?
Nothing that can be done about that through the two-party system. Republicans will always make things worse while Democrats will never make anything better.
People risk their lives pointlessly all the time. Just look at anyone fighting for Ukraine. At the end of the day, Russia still has nukes, and Ukraine does not.
Besides killing people, what fundamentally changed because of the Unabomber? What effect did the Unabomber actually have on society besides adding a new high statistic?
There appears to be a miscommunication. The event/s that they perform happen, but the vision they see for society changing according to their manifesto based on their actions never comes to fruition. They might shoot a bunch of people, but jack shit changes because of it. At the end of the day, it's basically just weather in the USA.
Nobody writes a 920 page manifesto and then at the very end says "Just Kidding!"
Mass shooters write massive manifestos all the time and nobody takes them seriously. Just because someone writes a manifesto doesn't mean jack shit will happen with it.
Handling is a somewhat strong word here though. For better and worse, he's very impulsive and egotistically sensitive. His last administration left a huge wake of people that haven't been rehired and likely won't be.
Even if we assume his new lackeys care enough about the Heritage Foundation to attempt to implement their plan, I'd be amazed if they could corral his attention long enough to get him to sign anything in.
Just wondering if you had a few other overseen examples off the top of your head since you seem knowledgeable on this.
We always seem to get this crazy hyperbole that Trump is going to be some competent fascist that's going to perform some great coup that will end the US, but in reality it always seems the real damage he does is the evil bureaucracy that erodes rights and liberties while exacerbating things in foreign policy.
Jan 6th was very flashy, but comparatively speaking, nothing really happened.

.world is just where right-wingers go to pretend they're not right-wingers.
🤨
Probably shouldn't support genocide then ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
10% off (of their bodies)
Have anyone but him and Biden overseen genocides?
Oh no! Anyway...
Some do. Hydro is a net positive, not sure about wind but probably, but last I heard solar not so much. That may have changed since.
Most are safer than nuclear, but until the environmental cost of manufacturing them is outweighed by the benefit of their use then nuclear is the least intolerable stopgap.
I have a feeling that you've either never questioned that "basic truth" or been one of the beneficiaries of liberals' constant pratfalls.
How many consultant-class make-work jobs were created by donations to the DNC so they could lose to Trump?
A general outline would suffice, just trying to get a sense of the scale
In light of lemmy.world's pre-emptive defederation of hexbear, would anyone support defederating lemmy.world?

Does any music genre have a disproportionally high number of highly educated artists?
Was reading about The Offspring due to this post here: https://lemmy.ml/post/2628198
As I read their Wikipedia page I noticed that Dexter Holland (lead singer) has a PhD in Molecular Biology. Then I remembered that Greg Gaffin (lead singer) of Bad Religion has a PhD in Zoology.
Is this a trend in Punk Rock or am I noticing a freak coincidence? If not punk rock, is there any genre that stands out in its number of highly educated artists?
Who's the most compelling non-main character on the show to you?
For me it's Planetina. While the whole episode was as chaotic as any episode, I felt that her arc through the episode was extremely deep for such a brief appearance, rife with symbolism and philosophy.
I feel like /c/memes has taught us a valuable lesson today: Would it make sense to develop a feature to block a comm from our feed for a selectable unit of time (1 hour, 1 day, etc.)?
Even if we're subscribed to them? Could a temp block exist in conjunction with a subscription? I love c/memes but holy shit no matter which sort I select by they've managed to overwhelm my feed.
Hey Lemmy, what are your favorite ear worms?

Hey Lemmy, what are some good public domain books?
I tend to like the volunteer-read audiobooks on librivox and recently was curious about their Sherlock Holmes books (never read or listened to before), but I'm wondering what else is out there and popular in the community.
