how do you guys use privacy focused messaging alternatives like Signal or Matrix?
  • As much as I expect the down votes.... But this is why I like beeper. It's a good catch all for unsavvy folk. Easier login with having other major chatting apps. (Self hosting is available and self hosted bridges are on dock this year...)

  • If you were a rich man... What would you do?
  • Buy a place in Montreal. Try to do random acts of kindness on randos where I can. You can't generally change the world, but you can make personal impact.

  • You set up last.fm to play through spotify vs the default youtube. The youtube player tends to play live tracks... which I often rather hear the album version. But yeah, it's in the last.fm settings.

  • Good casual shooters
  • So for now - fixtf2 worked! There are near zero bots and bot hosters and creators got steam banned. Last scream fortress 2023 was unplayable.... this year I almost cried as I was playing through my contracts with no issues.

  • Related? I use Spotify but with last.fm providing the playlists (my library, mix, recommended). I find their algorithm is either better or has more data, but regardless is really good at not playing the same 40 fucking songs and will give you some deep cuts as well as totally new artists..

  • Biggest complaint and why I see folks using waydroid is for banking apps.

  • I think it's been about three years... But I remember some dude casually throwing up a white power sign to some random other driver. I don't know what prompted it, but the lady threw it back to him but like sheepishly. This was downtown in our metropolis. My ethnic father told me I should play a victim when I merely stated what happened online. Nothing surprises me anymore....

  • Yeah I'm curious if cocoscrapers with the torrent search enabled will make this a non issue... But the website scraper was kinda great to have. I'm a bit shocked but honestly am surprised we haven't heard more scrutiny on them ..

Edit - or is it time to start paying for orionoid

  • Princess monoke is such a lovely film. And one of the very few films that a couple of differences in dialogue from the dub vs sub really matters. The sub (as a non sub watcher) is better... The English dub doesn't really make sense at the end...

  • I've been using wallhaven since it was... Shit what was it called... But before it was wallhaven. I think it had a name associated with *chans as it was a scraper for them back then.

  • (Solved)Looking for an old PC (I think) rts game that was unique in that you could drag and drop files from your desktop in the game window for some effect (I think it built a building or base)

I spent like an hour with an ai bot yesterday trying to figure this out... I randomly remembered playing this game and kinda want to try it. I'm fairly certain I played this on my windows me PC. In my search with the ai it recommended a lot of games, but none were it... Like not earth 2150, not a Gundam game (although it seemed heavily influenced), and not mechcommander. I think it was rts light as I generally loathe rts games but remember playing this game a lot on my old computer.

Some extra details. One big notable detail is the game was in little pop up windows. Like I could see and still interact with my PC as I played. It had mecha suites which were the strongest unit to build. They looked like the Gundam zaku units ...and I think they were red or blue depending. I would drag units to the other window and the suits and ships would fly to the other windows to try to destroy the enemy's base. The cut scenes were like cartoon ish pixel art things and if memory serves, the first major villain was the guy that trains you, but a bit into the campaign. Other things worth mentioning, I think I got it from Ollie's for super cheap... And I'm racking my brain to remember if it came bundled or solo...I generally would buy bundles back then (mom said I can get one game... Best try to get as many on one cdrom set).
