Why are $70 AAA games slashing prices so drastically?
  • Because NFS Unbound sucks. Never in my life have I tried to refund a game so quickly. Couldn't make it past the first hour of the game.

The characters just won't shut up, I'm trying to drive not hear people yap about how the illegal street racers that cause millions in public property damage and multiple fatalities each race are so oppressed by the government.

  • PS2 has sold more than 160 million consoles since 2000
  • Not exactly hard when it was still being officially manufactured and sold all the way until 2013-2014, right around the release of the PS4.

Its also important to remember that the PS2 was one of the cheapest DVD players at the time it was released. The reason it sold so well was almost entirely because of this.

  • yeah I built my own PC. How could you tell?
  • If this is a proprietary case (such as those from Dell, HP, etc), which it looks like this is, then it probably doesn't.

My suggestion is to get even a bargain bin $50 case and switch to that quickly. Far less limiting and probably has cable management components all over.

  • What game is a good starting point into the genre?
  • Probably one of the newer Dragon Quest games (DQ11, for example).

They're watered down enough to be more palatable than starting off at something like Final Fantasy 1, but they're not so watered down that they've become entirely an action rpg.

Even though I never finished it, DQ11 had turn based combat and the gameplay generally felt more or less the same as other games I later tried playing such as Grandia, Ys Seven, and so on. It felt just as "JRPG" as the rest.

  • It's time to admit it: Unreal Engine 5 has been kind of rubbish in most games so far, and I'm worried about bigger upcoming projects
  • Dead by Daylight switched to UE5 and immediately had noticably bad performance.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is made in UE5 and also has bad performance stuttering. Though Bloober is famously bad at optimization so its possible it might be just Bloober being Bloober.

STALKER 2 is showing some questionable performance issues for even high end PCs, and that is also made in UE5.

Now, just because the common denominator for all these examples is UE5 doesn't mean that UE5 is the cause, but it is certainly quite the coincidence that the common denominator is the same in all these examples.

  • I don't think Asuka is actually a tsundere
  • No two unrelated people of the opposite sex can spend that much time in close proximity to each other, working as close together as literally playing Twister and sharing clothes, and not feel absolutely nothing. They'd both have to be robots, or be like Rei.

Additionally, Asuka's response to her classmates calling her and Shinji newlyweds is pretty telling that both of them have to be at least interested. Asuka shows jealousy towards Rei and Shinjis existing relationship, though it is basically devoid of romance entirely. While she always tries to take the spotlight, it is important to note that often she is competing for Shinjis attention and/or praise.

I definitely think Asuka has romantic feelings for Shinji, and it can act as a motivator for her to pick on Shinji. People often pick on others that they have an interest in, for various reasons. But if someone feels nothing for someone else, they usually don't pick on them. Usually they do nothing, because they have no feelings for them and therefore that person isn't even on their radar of potential targets.

  • Prototype of Yamaha Frog 750 by Hartmut Esslinger (1985)
  • Definitely one of the helmets of all time. This gives a very "designed in the 1970s" vibe. Lots of organic curves and untextured fiberglass/plastic. Not enough fins or ribs to be from the 80s, but too much white for the 60s.

  • Error:language_not_allowed

I am getting kinda sick of constantly not being able to post comments on seemingly random posts due to this error.

The instance is English, the post title is English, and my comment is in English. I have even logged into my instance website to change the language settings to have both "Undetermined" and "English" selected, and that still doesn't work. Not all posts have this problem, and not even posts in just one community or instance. Seems like the error is completely random.

I have to imagine this is an error specific to Connect for Lemmy, since I don't get the same error if I comment from my web browser. It seems to come from Connect for Lemmy not having an option to set the comment language when posting? Can that be corrected please?
