Earl had to die
  • My grandmother on my mother's side beat my grandfather with a cast iron skillet while he was sleeping in retaliation for him beating her earlier. Apparently he learned from it and it never happened again.

Also song reference in the title is solid.

  • Bluesky is booming in Japan — mainly for reasons other than U.S. politics
  • We tried. They ignore the vast majority of feedback given to them.

The Mastodon user experience really needed to be simplified greatly to attract Twitter users, because what's a platform without other users on it to connect to? At this point I feel as if they may have blown their chance.

  • Pam Bondi: Pick to replace Matt Gaetz wants to deport pro-Palestine protestors
  • While this is ironic it's a sign of what's to come for everyone. First it's these university students, then it's some other group and then it's another one. It's very likely that everyone will get their turn eventually.

  • Ahahah, it's too late Batman, I've already released an uncountable amount of PFAS into Gotham's water supply!
  • In how many universes has Lex been president? I remember as a kid there was one where he won the presidency and had the flash executed. Superman responds by going full authoritarian and executing him in return.

  • Cyber-Security Experts Warn Election Was Hacked
  • The more people you hire the more people have access to the votes for possible physical tampering.

At the end of the day there is no solution that will make all of our elections fraud-proof. Just audit every election from now on. Yes, it's a bit embarrassing that it's necessary, but sadly this is the world we live in now.

  • United we stand, divided we fall.
  • We need our grassroots organizations to collaborate more and we need people to move towards those organizations. That's how I see it anyways. It's not going to be easy, a lot of these organizations are slow moving due to their financial burdens and lack of general support, but there's more urgency now than ever.

  • This world is cruel…
  • Essentially just be a renaissance man. It's much easier to do when you're younger. I could've ticked off over half the list 10 years ago, but now it's just reading, cooking and writing. I don't have the time or energy for much outside of work these days.

  • United we stand, divided we fall.
  • We need to regroup. Anyone who cares for the above needs to join the same movement. Put your personal feelings aside and stand together, it's the only chance we've got to stop everything from unraveling.

  • these folks sure are quiet these days
  • Focusing on these people was an unhealthy obsession

It still is. What's done is absolutely done and every time I look at stuff like this on this platform it makes me feel like people are witch hunting. Right now progressives and the general left need solidarity more than ever now.

The people who withed their vote hurt us all but we can't exactly afford to alienate them.

I know the post election wounds are still fresh but hopefully the finger pointing stops soon. Besides non-voters I've seen people blaming minorities, I've seen people blaming women and I'm sure there's many other demographics people have blamed.

  • these folks sure are quiet these days
  • Didn't really think there was that many of them on here. I feel like every time I see memes like this on here it's just people preaching to the choir.

  • Anti-Trump protests erupt across US from New York City to Seattle
  • Remember if you're going to any protests. Don't bring your phone and wear a mask. Use a map if you're not familiar with the area, write any important numbers you might need to call from a cell on your arm. Let friends know where you're going and don't go alone if you can.

  • Again ?
  • Leadership is too scared to do so. They've basically said that they think we only get one chance at it. We also don't have a lot of people who want to or can step up for candidacy.

  • Again ?
  • Even if you do organize, you need to do something with the people you've gathered together.

I've been a part of this small local socialist group for a couple of years now and sometimes I feel like we've tried nothing too. We're the same as everyone else. We have ideas but we don't really seem to act on them all that much.

  • well at least the cycle has stopped
  • Absolutely. It's a two way street here.

People need to stop turning on each other though. What's done is done. The left has always been divided but right now we really need to start pulling ourselves together.

  • Feminist celibacy movement 4B is trending in the US after Trump's win
  • Do what you have to do ladies.

I only have this bit of unsolicited advice. Try to still form genuine connections with men who you consider to be decent human beings when possible. I'm not saying this for our sake either. This is not South Korea. This is potentially probably going to be worse. If our government goes all the way and removes women's rights in their entirety then you're going to want men in your life that you can trust.

I would say this really goes for everyone. Trump's revenge tour is going to be cruel and people need to form strong communities. This is a time where people need to find like minded individuals and band together if they want to make it through the hell that's approaching us.

  • ‘Your body, my choice’: Women report rise in online misogyny following Trump victory
  • One of my friends had some rough experiences in some communities after it. I'd have to dig up the screenshots but it was atrocious. She's not even American but she flat out said it made her want to take a break from online for a while.

I've never seen anything like it considering the game we play together tends to have a more progressive and welcoming community that lashes out against open misconduct like that.

  • Harris Tried to Win Over Republicans. Democratic Support Collapsed Instead.
  • Seeing Walz as her VP pick was such a win and then everything started slipping away. If you listened to her speeches you'd start to notice she was slowly leaning more conservative, slowly backpedaling on a lot of Biden admin policies even. And for some reason she was absolutely obsessed with going on right wing media outlets.

I genuinely think she's rather well spoken but what a waste of potential.

  • Hey US, we did it four years ago
  • I'm sorry we failed you Bernie.

  • Gen Z commit to ‘canceling out’ their MAGA parents votes in new TikTok trend
  • Oh yeah I don't disagree about that. I'm the black sheep of my family in that regard. Even my Gen X siblings are Trumpers sadly.

I was just more so pointing out that I wasn't entirely sure if the younger two generations were actually serious. I know how social media is. Someone posting about something is not the same as someone taking action so I get anxious about whether or not people will actually make good on their statements.

  • Gen Z commit to ‘canceling out’ their MAGA parents votes in new TikTok trend
  • We'll see how it goes.

One of my initial fears regarding the initial hype phase of Kamala taking the candidacy was that the media hype would wear off and that we'd have a lot of no shows at the polls who only posted about it on their socials because it was trending. I don't really trust my generation or the zoomers to get out there and vote, but I hope I'm proven wrong.
