I've been learning a bunch of Czerny etudes lately. Here's one that I actually like.

Most Czerny etudes for the piano are boring, but this one's actually nice.

Welcome!
  • Hey there! I really hope Lemmy can take off. It would be a great win for all of us. I'm trying to do my part by posting here, so that there's some actual content which people might gravitate towards. I'm also trying to beef up the Piano communities out here. Wish you the best of luck!

What sorts of things are you struggling with? What would you like to disucss? Comment below!

Welcome aboard to everyone on this server! Which pieces are you working on? What is your level of experience?

There are many different ways in which to approach learning the piano, and I've been reading a lot of books lately. One of the things I've grown to realize is that everyone approaches it differently. If you have the time for it, I would highly recommend reading the books by Gieseking, Seymour Bernstein, and Gyorgy Sandor.

There are many sub-skills involved in playing: technique, sight reading, ear training, and memory training. There are also a number of ways in which you could break up practice sessions: you could go with a few long sessions, or a large number of short bursts. Both tend to work for different people, and I'm as of yet undecided if there's a clear winner.

    Thoughts?
