Missing: Employee Wages
  • I wonder what would happen to the economy if the hourly compensation growth for everyone would be equal to (or at least close to) the productivity. Would that mean that everything would just get more expensive alongside it? Or would it lead to an economy where you have a big middle class?

  • Arcane co-creator vows 'we will learn from it' after fan frustrations of the Netflix show's 'rushed' final season
  • I think it has it's charm that it ended as quick as it did. Sure, another season to really get into stuff would've been nice but this way it's a 2 season limited show that was really good and they can now decide who they'll make a new show of next.

  • USA | Trump threatens to impose sweeping new tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China on first day in office
  • Democrats are way too "nice guy energy" for that, they literally did a 180 on calling Trump a fascist the moment he got elected even though they are 100% correct. It's insane. Joe will literally walk himself into his prison cell if it would mean that he would look the more civilized person.

  • A far-right populist shocks Romania by heading into the presidential runoff
  • I agree with you that it's systemic. If I look around me (I live in NL but I also see it across the border), people have just become more right-leaning. Talking about foreigners like they're the problem, blaming them for stuff, it's all part of "normal" conversation to them now. This really changed a lot the last 5-10 years, before that there was maybe the occasional nut job but everyone else was pretty moderate.

If anything, being locked in their houses for so long and the (at times pretty intense) discourse around getting vaccinated is what drove a big wedge between groups of people that were before able to discuss things in a somewhat civilized way. I don't think Putin had much to do with that but he sure profited from it.

  • Biden really needs to step up and do something to protect our country.
  • The high ranking dems don't care about people, they're rich people that are slightly less right-wing. That's the only difference between them and the more "regular" Republicans. The stuff Trump is gonna push will most likely only hit the middle and lower class, which they're not a part of. Therefore they don't give a shit.

  • Cyber-Security Experts Warn Election Was Hacked
  • It sounds compelling but like the article states at the end, I'm not sure if it's going to change much. The DNC are way too timid to even consider challenging on something like this and the 2020 shenanigans have soured a lot of people on the "election fraud" claims.

If you put your tinfoil hat on you could even say that this was part of their tactic: make false claims to annoy everyone only to then commit fraud yourself later. It would he an almost perfect plan.

  • Tulsi Gabbard, Trump's pick for top intel role, draws scrutiny over Russia comments
  • They are getting behind her though, any video I've seen talking about her history with Russia, China and Syria is getting inundated with Trumpers yelling that it's leftist propaganda and shouting that "they didn't start talking about it until she became a republican". It's ridiculous and there's no argument that would convince these people otherwise.

  • Accused war criminal status will be hard stigma for Netanyahu to shrug off
  • Most of the EU is part of it though so if they stick to it they'd have to arrest him if he enters their countries. Although I already saw France was calling it "a complex case" and saying that they weren't sure whether they'd actually arrest him if he visited...

  • It wasnt gonna organize itself
  • I suspect women's day (just like mother's day and father's day) led to a spike in sales at business, meaning they embraced it with marketing and special deals.

Men's day is a bit different because like you said, it's not as well known, and also men generally resort to buying gifts more often than most women do for men.

  • [News] FromSoftware's parent company has confirmed Sony approaching them about a potential buyout
  • I hope they say no, I don't want From to become part of a brand like that. They've created so many amazing games, if Sony (or Microsoft I guess) takes over they're going to try to make things more efficient, push for more and faster releases and focus on console exclusives again.

  • What happens in the person's mind you're trying to date when you got a good conversation going on
  • I think it's a general issue with dating apps, I always hear people talk about getting ghosted on there. Sometimes even on a date itself, they are at the restaurant and no one shows up. It's really messed up, it's like using a dating app creates such a distance from a real person that it feels like you can do whatever you want and not have to feel bad.

My current partner told me after we'd been dating for a few months that she almost flaked on me for our first date. This date was my first and only match I had on that dating app in an entire month. For her, it seemed like an easy thing to do. For me, it would have destroyed my confidence if the one match I got flaked on me. We're both glad she didn't because we're still together after more than 6 years but it really shows you how different people think.

  • Russia ‘fires intercontinental ballistic missile’ at Ukraine for first time
  • It's not even 52%, in the end it's ended up being 50% VS 48.3%. He barely got half of all votes with the overall gap only being 2.6 million votes. That's razor thin, the only reason it worked out the way it did (apparent "easy win") is because of the electoral college system, which is a bit biased towards conservatism anyway by giving quite a bit of power to smaller, less populated states.

Besides that, I do agree that it's a bit of a question what will happen. I've seen people say that Rubio and Waltz appear to indicate a slightly different course but no one really knows besides the coming government.
