While it's not an exploration type of game, it has the "drop xp on death with one chance to recover" mechanic, and the combat feels quite similar to Souls games (dodge roll, parry etc). Worth checking out.

One of such details I want to insert is one of the protagonists having had nipple piercings, which are no longer used. This is not openly stated; I just go into a very detailed description of a piece of jewelry that can be mistaken for coventional earrings and have a dialogue between the characters where nothing is really confirmed nor disproved.

I feel like the part of the character you want to portray by using nipple rings won't come across if the reader doesn't know that they're nipple rings. What is the purpose of describing an object if we still don't know what it is, and then miss the implied background of the rebellious years? Do we care to solve the mystery of this "jewellery = nipple rings", or do we care that "nipple rings = possible troubled past"? You can call it what it is, and have the option to elaborate more later if it serves the story.

I haven't played in a few weeks since I've been revisiting the DS series. Last I played I was approaching mid game with a sorcerer build, but gave up because it just wasn't fun. MGS is behind Astel who I do no damage to. I'm not sure MGS would even carry me. If I try sorcery again it'll be my main respec'd on NG+3.

Dubstep was emerging around that time, way before Skrillex and the particular style of it that he popularized. I think I hear the similarity you pointed out, though. It may be just a coincidence or a deeper common influence - for example the first song on that Bowie album sounds like drum n bass which was a likely influence on early dubstep.

Sometimes you have to do the wrong thing and learn the hard way. Anyone can tell you to do your assignments, but until you fail the course and have to do it again the consequences might not seem real. Then you will really be kicking yourself for wasting even more time.
