value in it, they’d probably pay for it; and that’s why Tesla is charging what they are.
Tesla is charging what they're charging to eliminate competition, but still say they're an open platform for anyone.
A T450 is pretty old, I wouldn't bother dumping too much more money into it. Especially with only an i5.
I have a T14 gen 1 intel and it's a pretty solid machine. I paid $200 US for mine about a year ago so IDK if 400 is a good price over there. The non dogshit screen cost another $70 from aliexpress because mine came with the 1366 screen. Both the AMD and the Intel model have 8 or 16 gigs soldered and 1 ram slot so they're both just as upgradeable. Mine also had an m.2 slot for the wifi card so I got an Intel wifi 6e card.
The framework is a neat concept, but it's really not worth paying so much more money for an honestly worse experience than a normal laptop (assuming it has all you need). Your T14 is the same chassis as a t490(?) and up to the T14 gen 2 or 3. So you could throw in a newer board later on if you wanted to ship of theseus.
Mac OS has changed a lot in the 15 years since that OS came out. 10.6 was the last OS where the only way to resize the window was dragging from the bottom right corner.
Some things take some getting used to. Apple intends for you to kinda "pile" windows on top of each other, while windows tends to encourage just maximizing them. Mac OS's green button also defaults to going exclusive full screen and hides the bottom bar, while windows just makes it as big as possible without hiding the bottom bar. Linux distros by default tend to lean towards a windows approach, but obviously you can chose from any of 10 billion dekstops and window managers.
Also the new settings app sucks. I don't think even the most die hard Mac OS users like Apple changing it around and making it worse for no good reason.
Unfortunately a lot of people in the Linux world still hate secure boot because they associate it with locking your PC to only running windows. Never mind the fact that basically every big Linux distro plays nicely with secure boot these days, and has for a while now.
CPU would be the first thing I'd upgrade. If you can find an i7 or i9 10th gen for cheap then you could just drop that in. But odds are to get any real performance uplift you'd need a new Mobo/CPU which also means new ram.
Also if you're stuck using wifi make sure you get an Intel wifi card. Intel makes far and away the best wireless cards. If you're not on wifi 6e (6ghz wifi 6, not 5ghz wifi 6) then I'd try to upgrade your wireless card or Router/AP. I HATE using wifi, but 6ghz wifi is actually good enough for me.
The 4090 gets like a 5% performance penalty on pcie 3. I doubt a 3070 would even be noticeable.
I just want to get work done, and I just don't care about any of the benefits of linux. Mac OS legitimately just works for me, and that's the only thing I want out of a computer.
Plus nothing comes close to the battery life of an Apple silicon mac. Doing the same work my AMD Thinkpad T14s gets about 4-6 hours on a good day, my Intel Thinkpad P1 gets 1-2 hours, but my M1 Macbook pro emulating x86 code through a virtual machine gets 10+ easily.
I switched from Linux to Mac a while ago and I've never gone back.
I'll use linux all day long on servers, and VMs. But on the bare metal? nah.
Price competitiveness leads to race to the bottom. Outside of the 90s Apple whole brand has been the exact opposite of race to the bottom. Plus making a cheaper "good enough" device makes it much harder to justify also having the more expensive and profitable device.
Don't forget china.
Buick and Volvo build a lot of their cars in China now.
the action of making use of and benefiting from resources.
Yes, they are indeed benefitting from this, but so is everyone else that uses the software if you're going by textbook definition.
Scrolling in what? All? I try to keep my subscriptions curated so I don't really see a lot of the bot communities, without needing to blanket block bots.
x8 interface
Gross. signed someone with a pcie gen 3 mobo.
Very apt that these two things were so close to each other.

Ford as a hobby or something issues recalls.
The good news is they're pretty quick and responsive to fix their issues unlike Toyota which will wait until the NHTSA forces them to issue a recall.
Blu rays still make up most of physical sales
I love grinding. That’s why I still play wow 15 years later.
Then watch someone on YouTube do the suffering for you. At that point it’s just a movie.
Thinkpad X61 Tablet Windows XP recovery media
I have an X61 Tablet and I'd like to get the original Lenovo recovery media for XP tablet edition (I think version 2005) mostly so I can get all of the drivers and functionality working.
I currently have an XP Pro install but that doesn't have any of the special tablet features. And my xp tablet edition install decided it doesn't want to work anymore and BSODs on start, and I don't feel like dealing with the hunt for old drivers.
Does anyone know where or how I can acquire isos or even the actual recovery CDs for this machine?
