NCD, what are we ordering?
  • All of them.

  • If you're right through manipulation (propaganda, marketing, etc), are you really right?
  • Yeah, tell that to the racists, fascists, and other forms of assholery in the world.

  • After 10 years in development, No Man's sky feels half finished
  • I agree. Sean Murray took us all for a ride. Wide as an ocean, deep as a puddle.

  • meow :3
  • Meeeewwww!

  • psychiatrist prescribed antidepressants instead of the actual stuff I need
  • I'm in NY, we're pretty blue here and PP is where I get my HRT from. If Trump takes that away, I'll go DIY. We also passed Prop 1, hopefully that sticks...

  • psychiatrist prescribed antidepressants instead of the actual stuff I need
  • My doctor tried to send me to a psychiatrist before prescribing HRT, I told her thanks but no thanks, I know who I am. Not sure where you live, but Planned Parenthood doesn't bat an eye. Hope you can find a solution.

  • Lemmy Becoming
    Genius idea
  • Holy shit, I love grapes. I usually snip off part of a bunch, rinse it, and have it with my lunch. Nice way to finish the meal and cleanse the palate with something sweet.

  • Remembering the Corrupted Blood incident: That time WoW was overrun by a virtual plague now referenced by Covid-19 researchers
  • If I remember correctly, this happened in Everquest Frontiers. You'd catch some shitty AoE debuff in town and give it to other people, including attackable NPCs like guards. Guards were not easy to kill, so they just carried that shit for weeks. The only way to remove the debuff was die, but it just kept spreading, so the best way was to not coach to other towns, but Freeport was basically fucked. That was SOE for ya, and they did that shit on purpose.

  • How do you find content to consume on social media?
  • I don't use social media except Lemmy. I refuse to eat bad food, so why would I consume bad content? And stay away from commenting sections like YouTube and Steam unless you like brain rot. People be peopleing.

  • UK open to social media ban for kids as gov't kicks off feasibility study
  • I think the threshold might be media that is known to be bad influencers to the masses. If a corporation/company stamps social media logos on the bottom of their website or advertisement, it's probably worth banning (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Tiktok, etc). I mean, how many more Tide pod challenges do our children need? It's a waste of time and we need to instead be showering our kids with positive messages, not feeding them brain rot.

  • What are you looking forward to on the Thanksgiving menu?
  • It's just a simple dish, there's many recipes online with different variations.

Typically, I just slice the sprouts in half and put them in a glass baking dish (nice and fresh, don't use frozen or they will turn to mush). Then, bacon is cut into small pieces and pre-cooked in a pan, nice and crispy. Drain the bacon, then add it to the sprouts, adding back a little of the bacon grease, just enough to cover the sprouts. Into the oven at about 400, giving them a stir halfway through. They're ready when the sprouts are easily pierced by a fork (usually about 20-25 min).

Sometimes, I also add things like onions, beets, turnips, butternut squash (all cut to about the same size as the sprouts). If I'm making a medley like this, I don't always add the bacon, opting for a little oil with crushed garlic, salt and pepper to taste.

Roasted vegetables is one of my most favorite side dishes, as it's pretty easy to make and so very tasty. My parents weren't always cooking easy fixes for dinner and I have vivid memories of things like this at the table. Other Thanksgiving favorites: real cranberry sauce (no canned) and mashed rutabaga. Now I'm so hungry!

  • What are you looking forward to on the Thanksgiving menu?
  • Roasted brussel sprouts and bacon.

  • Daybreak bought Palia studio Singularity 6 and aims to bring the game to launch

File this one under “did not see this coming in a million years but also not sad about it whatsoever”: Daybreak has acquired Palia studio Singularity 6.

“Our team is absolutely thrilled to be joining forces with Daybreak Game Company, a subsidiary of Enad Global 7 AB (EG7), known for publishing and supporting some of the world’s most popular and successful online multiplayer franchises, such as EverQuest, H1Z1, The Lord of the Rings Online, and more,” S6 announced this evening. “The acquisition provides us with some incredible resources and support to continue developing Palia and elevate the product to meet the gold standard that our players expect, including engaging new content, impactful social features, and quality-of-life improvements across the board.”

Singularity 6 says that it will “continue operating independently” under its co-founders and that its “vision and creative direction will remain intact,” which would generally be one of those lines in a press release like this that causes eyerolls, but it might actually be believable in this case, given how Daybreak has handled Standing Stone Games for the last many years now.

Daybreak, of course, was founded back in 2015 using the bones of SOE, but it was itself acquired by EG7, and since then, it’s basically taken over EG7 from the inside out. It’s actually performed fairly well for EG7 over the last few years, though it dipped at the end of 2023, sold off the PlanetSide IP, and relinquished development of PlanetSide 2. Buying an existing studio and game actually aligns rather nicely with EG7’s stated goals of running consistent mid-tier MMORPG moneymakers.

S6 has been struggling for the last many months as it appeared to be suffering serious financial difficulties and went through multiple rounds of layoffs as well as its Palia beta obfuscation fiasco, so it’s hard to see this as anything but good news for folks who wanted to see Palia stick around to actually see its real launch and/or see Daybreak expand and maybe even return to its glory days of bailing out floundering MMOs.
