That's because in the cut version of the script there was a Dorothy/Scarecrow romance plot
Yeah, gamer gate was one of the things that lead to Trump being elected in the first place. Plus the outcry that still happens when BIPOC, LGBT, or women protagonists are used. Hell, just look at any steam discussion board sometime and you'll see it.
As someone who games, gAmERs are the fucking worst
I will hide the fact I'm a leftist when speaking to someone about leftist beliefs. That word has become such a dirty word in the media that you can see people shut down when you lead with that.
Just because you grew up in an era doesn't mean that you got the full experience others got. Kinda what I'm saying.
In the south (or for young girls most places) for example, this was definitely closer to the norm. Parents obviously would always SAY that they would always try and protect their kids—and maybe they would try—until it got to the part where they were actually molested. Then a lot of parents didn't believe or want you to speak out 🙃
Statistically, this was more often to happen with people you knew, I'll grant.
The fact that you don't see that as a sign of the times sounds more unique to your own individual experience.
That's definitely true to an extent! Like if you're looking at spending several hundred dollars on a new tub or something for your bathroom when it's already pretty updated, you're not going to see much return for that. But if your bathroom is straight outta the mid 80s and hasn't been updated at all, you'll probably get more bang for your buck that way (very long-term speaking).
Or things like replacing the roof or old AC units, or honestly just painting and replacing light switches, can add a bit to the eventual sales price. Not a ton, but not nothing. It's all things a buyer will potentially weigh when looking at your home. Just like they will...questionable diy decisions lol
Mine will talk up a movie to get me to watch it with them, and then describe every funny thing that happens in the entire movie in the first 5 minutes. Drives me bananas.
Yeah, it sucks and really fucks with the "building equity in your home" narrative that updating/remodeling has. Now every fucking thing costs so much, that is very unlikely I get back out what I pay for updates in a home sale price later on. It seems like even maintaining your home is for the ultra-rich, now.
I read on reddit one time—years and years ago—that doing simple multiplication can help occupy the part of your brain keeping you from pissing. A sequence like 2x2=4, 4x4=16, 16x16=256...etc.
I've been doing that ever since, and it really helps. Usually by the time I get to doing 16x16 in my head, I'm already peeing.
Bingo. That's why you usually see hay bales left so far apart in fields to dry. Stack them together and they will catch themselves on fire.
Any way, to OCs point, a well placed Molotov (or even just good ol gasoline) could fix the current flammability issue.
Tbh, it sounds like she did try her best to clarify by mentioning her boyfriend before they actually went to the destination. I could easily see that she perceived her friend asking her to go hiking, so she excitedly agreed. Got home, realized what that would look like, and thought she might bring it up in a way that wouldn't look like the "I have a boyfriend, FYI" trope
I understand what you're saying, but there's also a huge stigma around being a girl and leading with the fact that you have an SO. Like most things socially for women, it feels like you're damned if you do and damned if you don't when trying to befriend men most of the time.
I've personally tried both methods throughout my life, and have lost every friendship with men I've tried to have because of it. It gets pretty lonely, since the other women in my immediate community aren't really interested in my gaming hobbies. I end up a lot like this girl on the post, with no friends of either gender.
I can only imagine lmao. I'm an okie currently, so I may have some idea, what with our state mineral being meth.
I've only ever heard stories and seen one documentary (The Wild and Wondeful Whites of West Virginia) from out of WV but it sounds...different out there, even compared to OK, haha.
Everyone keeps saying she was flirting, but I really think she was just trying to make a friend, but everyone saw 'flirting' because of their genders. The post literally says she has no friends.
This is why women tend to be wary of friendships with guys; any time we do, we get come on to because any amount of friendly interaction is perceived as flirting, or ditched because the guy we thought we were trying to befriend finds out we have a boyfriend.
Shit, if I were this girl who struggled to make friends, thought I had found one finally, but get friend-dumped when they find out they can't fuck me (for the millionth time in her life, I'm sure), I'd probably quit, too.
West Virginia also voted straight red, I believe
This comment really just hits every nail on the head for me. It could be that the ex is feeling bad for what happened, but wants to divert the blame/bad feelings onto OP.
It's also rich to me when the cheating partner is ready to "put all the bad blood behind them" as if they don't want to live in the stink of what they did any more. They're happy now, why can't you also be happy with them? Etc etc. As if they didn't blow up everyone's life with their choices.
Because it happened in the state of Georgia, the state building a literal Police City?
Yeah, for sure. Like I said, I like apples in it pretty well, and I'm sure raisins at mostly fine. I just don't like raisins in any context lol.
My son is due in a month or so, and I just finished the hat he'll wear home from the hospital!
The pattern is this one! https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-bear-hat-8
I made some adjustments, like starting with 8 rows of ribbing, then doing two kfb increases in row 9, before doing the rest of the pattern as described. I also picked up 10 stitches instead of 8 for the the ears, because of personal preference.
I was able to finish it in one evening, and I'm thinking of making another for his cousin that will be born just two months after him :)
