Thanks for this. The posts have been mostly me trying with no prior experience. I will certainly adjust things with this feedback. I haven't posted there in some time, and I think I have gotten better overall, but you make a very valid criticism about accessibility.
No, that is really valid. It just kinda sucks to see something you spent hours on get that, when a 15 year old meme can pull 700.

I did eventually (recently) post to the comms you mentioned. It did help, because someone other than me finally posted there and it was really refreshing.
Nah, I legit enjoy it as a hobby. I did let things get to me trying to make stuff people would enjoy, there's no question about that. Spend hours on something, enjoy making it, only for people to not care about the end result is disheartening. Imagine having fun making a painting for a year with the goal of making people happy only for no one to look at it.
Maybe with that community, you could crosspost to !historyartifacts@lemmy.world and get some traction. I think there is overlap there.
But yeah. People are really quick to say "be the change you wish to see" without ever had the perspective of putting in the work.
In general, people on Lemmy don't want high effort or high quality posts that take longer than 30 seconds to digest.
I've made a lot of posts that have taken a considerable amount of my time to make, mostly video edits. I don't think any of them (over 100 across 2 accounts) have ever gotten above ~50 upvotes. About a year ago, I made a post of a meme with the guy getting kicked out of the office saying "High effort and quality gifs". It got over 500 upvotes. That made it seem like people actually want that. In response, I've spent many hours doing video edits, even creating !high_quality_gifs@lemmy.sdf.org (since the LW community is parked and never will receive posts), and making content for that community until I started to get burned out on my hobby. A large percentage of what I have posted has been OC on principle. I've learned that people just don't care.
Why in the world should I keep making video edits when the entirety of the fun has been sapped out by people not caring? I could spend 8-10 hours on a project and people simply won't care because it isn't instantly digestible. Things like memes and 40-100 year old comic strips do incredibly well. It seems like the only 2 examples of high effort that get some engagement are SDF's own !unix_surrealism@lemmy.sdf.org , and !custardfist@feddit.nl. Notable mention to some of the pics communities.
I guess what I'm really ranting about here is not that the things I make aren't appreciated (because the very few comments are generally positive), but the fact that most people don't even want it around or care.
I'm not sure I can keep up the grind anymore. The joy has been sapped out of my hobby. And for what? An instantaneous downvote with every post.
I have another example. One which describes the concept of "thirst" in a more logical way. I shall be in my quarters preparing such before I present it to the Ready Room. Please direct your urges appropriately and in a logical manner.

The teacher had also known Ty for a single day. I really can't put too much blame on them, given the law and potential risks that are sadly too real in modern times.
The administration, however, were likely to know of his autism and probably could have handled things in a way that would have deescalated the situation with the cops (that they were required to call).
Not to say they are necessarily to blame (they don't want to lose their jobs or see jail time), and I wasn't there, but it seems like the whole thing could have been handled better from top to bottom.

I started to enjoy watching it maybe 5 years ago, and I couldn't agree more. The OP isn't wrong in that it's been hidden, though and that is so frustrating. Thanks to the blackouts, it is really expensive or impossible to watch most NHL games here so I mostly don't, which sucks.

Trump winning supports the genocide of every LGBTQ+ person in all of North America, be it directly or indirectly. No one wants what is happening in Gaza. But, I have to say the potential genocide (in the sense of complete erasure of culture as well as open murders with little to no consequences sense) here is even higher.
I have the unfortunate circumstance of being a trans woman in GA. I already have had to completely shut off most contact with people, both work and personal.
I’ve already had rocks thrown at me in an attempt to kill me (this was years ago, even). I already feel like I have to carry a gun. If things go the way they seem, I will even have to order in groceries because it will further empower the people that hate my existence.
The foreign policy is shit, no question. However, I don’t like the possibility of being raped and murdered by some asshole that thinks he understands Co² emissions after watching some video.
I have a lot to say here, especially as a very blue collar machinist. I will refrain, though.
In conclusion: by “avoiding” the genocide in Gaza (which would have in my opinion had a much higher chance of being resolved with Democratic policies), you have also doomed people like me to maybe live in fear for the rest of our lives.
