A friend bought a new BMW. Everything is controlled with an app. There's also an interface in the car itself, obviously, but the app has more functions.
Things like seat heating, air conditioner, enhanced cruise control and all the fancy things are only available if you subscribe to one of the three offerings.
I just glanced over the app, so i don't remember the names, but it went like the usual: basic, premium, platinum.
Prices were in the range of 200, 400, 700 euros a fucking month.
It's staged. The guy filming told him to look as if he was sleeping. You can see him closing the eyes with that "alright, I'll start now" look.
Iceland... I hope, one day
They get the spot in the basement.
The cold would be one of the main reasons i would move to Scandinavia.
The ever increasing temperatures are making german summer too hot for me.
Though the German winter makes up for it, for now ...
Edit: my best friend from Brazil moved to Finland around 1992 and loved it so much, he's still there, happily married and i never manage to pronounce the names of his 3 sons correctly.
Before that he only knew the tropical life on an island he had never left before.
While it isn't a cold country per se,
Snow can fall between the months of November and April, with the Northern regions receiving the most snowfall. Greece is commonly known as a warm destination, with paradise-like islands surrounded by sparkling turquoise water. However, the country also experiences snow during the winter months.
Is this the castle with that "beware not to fall" sign featuring the pictogram of a knight falling at the mini bridge connecting two sections?
I just spent too much time looking for a fucked window, because somehow i didn't read wipers.
Here's the direct video link, it's worth it.
Dogs? Isn't it always the same dog, wearing different apparel on each take? Anyway, Wonderful!
How did the ladder one not yank his teeth out?
It went on for 13 seasons until 2013 and i just found out that season 14 has been running since March 2024, gasp!
In between there have been things like Promi Big Brother, the celebrity version.
The only one that was really able to entertain me non-stop, was Freddie Mercury.
Edit: not saying Jim Carey isn't entertaining. Jim Carey is absolutely entertaining!
People would die from boredom, watching me browsing Lemmy at work, at home, commuting and while sleeping.
They would love to see me for over an hour writing a comment, just to discard it, then upvote the great comment i wasn't able to write a good response to.
Day 17,800
"subscribed to a new community?"
"Yeah, the first new subscription, in 20 years"
Same here in Germany, but they weren't sleeping. People were watching because of all the trash whispering and waiting for the first touchy situations inter the covers.
They even had a time where one channel was broadcasting live nighttime. I think that stopped after a few seasons.
Those first seasons were pure trash, but so naive, compared to what it mutated to over the years.
All my friends kids are playing Roblox and i'm trying to get everyone updated about Roblox.
The only concern they had until now, was the kids spending money for cosmetics.
At least you have words available to lose. I lost all my words already.
I once had a little one making his first flight attempt right into my living room.
I was already watching the nest everyday, wondering when the parents would encourage it to fly. When it happened it stumbled and made a crash landing in the middle of the living room.
The parents stayed outside, but right on the balcony door, tweeting louder than ever.
The little one just looked at me and seemed pretty chill. The most wonderful thing was watching it try 3 times trying to take off. It sprinted to the door, probably realized he wouldn't make it and slowly made it's way back to the starting position.
The fourth time it took off like a little flash, the parents joined him and that was the last time i saw them.
The neighbor's cat and me kept watching the nest the next days, in hopes they might come neck.
Sounds like the last patch for Windows 3.11
His posts, it added, “can have real-world consequences."
This time it's not an onion. I love how close this is to the Onion's "Elon Musk's AI turns on him" story from a few days back
There's a flying squid?
Can squid really fly? Yes, says David Brian Butvill, there are a few squid species that can get airborne... Here's how and why
I knew there's a flying squid that likes to post memes though
>If a squid swimming near the surface is spooked by a predator or a boat, it streamlines into a torpedo shape and fires itself out of the water. At the same time, it splays its eight tentacles into a flat, fan-like pattern in front of its face – some breeds even exude mucus to fill in the spaces, creating a unified, kite-like surface. It also flares a pair of fins near its rear end and – voilà – the squid becomes a living, breathing jet.

Novel research published in Ornithological Applications has revealed noteworthy insights into how barred owls (Strix varia) interact with urban environments, with implications for both wildlife conservation and urban planning.
Key findings
Day vs. night habitat use: Barred owls' home ranges were significantly larger at night than during the day, indicating different habitat needs between their active and resting periods. The research emphasizes that preserving green spaces in urban areas can have profound effects on nocturnal and diurnal wildlife.
Energy efficiency in preferred habitats: Owls expended less energy in their preferred nocturnal habitats, suggesting that these areas provide higher-quality resources.
Affluent neighborhoods attract barred owls: Barred owls in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, showed a marked preference for habitats in affluent neighborhoods, supporting the "luxury effect"—the tendency for wealthier areas to harbor greater biodiversity.
Implications for Urban Design: The study advocates for providing and protecting habitat for barred owls to keep this important species, other forest-associated species, and the ecosystem services they provide present and functioning in urban areas. The study also advocates for the equitable distribution of green spaces in cities, especially in less affluent areas, to promote biodiversity throughout the urban landscape.

I really don't know the idea behind this community ( sidebar is empty ) - but i would say you can't get more Cryptic Lemmy than this.
>The existence of truly uncompromising men has never been, and will likely never be, commonplace. This world just is not fit to sustain high levels of conviction in people. With celebrities and Rock stars, it is even more unlikely. Between the fickle push of fans and the heartless pull of media and record label execs, individuals who once knew exactly who they were can, and often do, get lost in the shuffle. Perhaps they find themselves unable to live up to their perceived personas. They get engulfed amid the steamy haze of their own successes, drowning beneath the waves of drink, drugs, sex, and excess, while the incoherent pace of touring slowly eats them up and spits them out. On the 28th of December, 2015, the most shining exception to this rule left our world forever. Ian Fraser, known to the Rock-n-Roll universe as Lemmy Kilmister, was the pulse of the band Motörhead from the day he began it in the Summer of 1975 until the last note he played on December 11th, 2015, on a stage in Berlin.

SpaceX CEO Elon Musk volunteered his sperm to seed a Martian colony, the New York Times reports, highlighting his obsession with the plan.
SpaceX employees' work is breaking barriers, while this asshat keeps terrorizing them with his utter gross bullshit
Edit: after reading through the article again, some passages stuck out, like:
>Apart from aspiring to become the biological father for his Martian colony, Musk has leveraged many of his own businesses to create a civilization on Mars, including Boring Company tunnels to dig under the planet's surface and a Tesla Cybertruck rugged enough to traverse its mountainous landscapes.
So, take it all with a grain of salt.

NASA waves off spacewalk after astronaut suit springs a leak
US astronauts Tracy Dyson and Mike Barratt abandoned plans to exit the International Space Station on Monday to conduct maintenance due to a spacesuit malfunction.
>The delayed spacewalk is only the latest in a string of setbacks around operations on the International Space Station in recent weeks.
>This marks the second spacewalk in recent days that has been abruptly called off due to spacesuit issues.
>In addition to the aborted Monday spacewalk, the federal agency has been aiming to carry out another on July 2 — before giving Boeing’s Starliner capsule the green light to undock from the orbiting laboratory and make its return home.
>The Starliner spacecraft has been on its first crewed test flight to the space station. But the vehicle encountered several key issues during the first leg of its trip, including springing helium leaks and experiencing thruster outages, that have delayed its return.
