Personally, I turn to activism. I realized that regardless of how horrible the future will be, there's good to do in this world.
The world is full of people who are as scared as you and I are. I can make their lives a tad more positive.
The environment is collapsing? Educate and organise, think about how to build mutual aid systems and how to sustain yourself small scale.
The economy will crash? Help others, people who got thrown to the curb by the social system, homeless people, orphans,...
Civil rights are ending? I'm trans and scared. And there's so many other trans children that are counting on me to be the representation that I wish would have had when I was their age. I'm not going down without a fight.
Democracy is ending? Let's focus on preserving what we can and try to rebuild. It won't be over forever.
People being nice to and helping me often makes my day in an otherwise miserable time.I want to be that person for others.
Yes, let me know please. I'm too curious and the wiki is pretty vague.
It's slow. I'm in spring Y2 and still struggling quite a bit with money. I've expanded the farming space, so hoping it picks up soon. I also don't have the greenhouse yet, because I didn't for the sake of it find a damn summer squash last summer for the remixed bundle. I found so many carrot seeds in spring Y1 that I didn't worry about it until I noticed on like summer 12th. I scoured the map every single day and didn't find a damn seed spot. I know that on the 9th there's always one in the backwoods...
I had an auto-petter though in one of my first treasure rooms by sheer luck!
I kegged up over the winter and II just packed it with my first huge harvest of rhubarb. I want to invest in more hogs probably to actually make some use of the meadowlands farm (and the petter).
I spent my first day exploring and trying some of the quests. I did Willy's fishing quest and the race. I used the shady guy to cheat and I'm not sure what effect it had, but I won. I also got a new outfit from Sandy (I actually love it!)
Then I got some food at the chef's booth and went into the Skull Caverns completely unprepared, no bombs, food or stairs and I only got to level 15.
I collected around 120 eggs that day and am planning to be better prepared tomorrow.
I was thinking about buying magic rock candy, possibly two if I have enough eggs. Any recommendations?
What do you like to do at the desert festival?
This is my first time visiting it and I'm eager for your input. What's your favourite way of getting calico eggs? What do you spend them on? Or do you just spend the whole day in the Skull Caverns? Please share all your tips.
As I predicted last week I kind of overdid it before the update and am taking it slow now.
Started a new save on Monday and just finished the first green rain event. I didn't know it was coming and coincidentally thought the evening before that it would be nice to have more fiber for tea saplings. :D I collected fiber and moss all day and am covered for a while now.
I bought the fish smoker early and tried to make some money by that. I'm not sure if it was financially worth it to go that route, I'm lagging behind on other stuff now, but it sure was fun!
I'm working on my first perfection ever and trying to get it done before the 1.6 update on Monday (playing on Android). I'm only 64% done though and I feel like I always find other stuff to do in game than to work on that, but the good thing is that most categories are only missing a few percent.
Good news is that with my last Skull Caverns Run I filled the third to last monster eradication goal and found my second auto-petter! I'll build kegs now and hopefully not be too bottlenecked with money for the golden clock.
I played about 180 hours in October and hope I won't be too burned out on Monday, but I won't have a deadline then, so I'll take my time!
The coffee speed buff works while horse riding! I just figured this out and it's such a difference.
On Fridays around 7pm, there's 17 people in the saloon. Perfect to get your friendship levels up. I have a chest in the saloon with favourite gifts and just pass them around. The bar also sells coffee (universally liked by all adults) and some loved gifts: Salad (Leah), pizza (Sam & Shane), spaghetti (Robin) and beer (Pam & Shane).
Pay attention to the rotating stock in the different shops - Oasis, Desert Trader, Krobus. I was too lazy to check regularly on my first runs and thought it was mainly decorations and all the useful stuff is available permanently.
Krobus sells one IRIDIUM SPRINKLER on Fridays! Amazing when you don't have enough iridium yet. He also sells mixed seeds on Thursday (always running low on those to make tea bushes) and buff food on Saturdays.
Oasis has Speed-Gro for 80g on Thursdays instead of Pierre's 150g and 3 Omnigeodes on Wednesday.
Desert Trader has stairs for jade on Sundays.
Adding on to that, this works with tree stumps as well. This is useful especially in the beginning of the game when you're low on energy - you can chop a tree and leave the stump (stumps give very little wood for the energy it takes to chop them) and still come back to shake it for your daily seed chance.
Yes, I came here because I noticed the same problem with foss@beehaw.org
I also found two older posts here describing the same problem:
It seems like a random problem
Account 1 - 3 can't access FOSS, but 4 can.
Account 4 can't access Bready, but 2 can.
Oldest notice of this problem is 29 days old, I hope it gets fixed soon.
There's r/foreveralone. I don't know how the community evolved, but like 7 or so years ago it was basically what you described. People seeking comfort over feeling undateable and being scared of never finding anyone, but without the toxicity and hate that incels are known for.
Don't ask me how I know this.
This doesn't answer your question, but Great Britain tried during their colonial rule. I'd be curious too though about a modern version.
And the protester of one panel becomes the reactionary in the next panel. The person with red hair can be seen in every stage throughout the panels.
Top 0.001% of listeners (4.4 million) for Max Richter with 50,608 minutes. Top 0,5% of listeners overall with 185,441 minutes.
I like to frame it as, even if you can't avoid crashing into a wall, it still makes a huge difference whether you do it with a 120km/h, 70km/h or 20km/h.
Is there a community for these type of AI memes? I'm absolutely here for them.
Happened to me a while ago too. Actually didn't notice that it was only removed from the app and thought it was gone altogether, so I was real stressed, but it didn't happen since.
How much attention do headline like these get? The activists get locked away, the company fixes the damage and continues business as usual. It gets a small note in the news, some people give the protesters a nod and then the whole thing is forgotten.
One can make points about the efficiency of different forms of protest, but there isn't the one right way and different approaches can compliment each other. If there's only road block protests, people complain that it doesn't get things done. Only vandalizing protests, and most people would either vilify them as violent or straight up not care enough to actually support them.
Seems to me like the road blocks actually inconvenienced people into siding with the more severe measures against the companies, something we otherwise wouldn't be talking about.
