Question: can individuals donate their own private copies for archival/comunal/scientific/cultural use?
Based on the title alone, is Israel pulling its assets out of Hamas?
The first guy on the left seems disappointed in his football team.
Oh, squiring! I misread it as squirting, enlarged the thumbnail and true enough, there were a bunch of squirts doing some funny business.
There are two wolves inside you. One is Remus and the other is Romulus. Your body is the birthplace of Rome.
One is homo, the other is no homo, bro?
I have multiple thoughts on this and it may come out disjointed. Apologies in advance.
If you look closer at Romania, you'll find it akin to a mini-US election situation. The rich getting richer and patting each other on the back while the working class is down in the dumps. Then this guy shows up and hits where it hurts.
A problem some people aren't getting is that the undercurrent was already there in plain sight. The discontent already existed and needed a fuse. This guy happened to be it. It's not that the shadow campaign had foreign backers such as Russia, but more that it didn't really need them all that much. Something like this would have happened eventually because it already did somewhere else. And multiple times in the past as well.
And really, is it that unbelievable that a blitzkrieg would successfully change the tides if played at the right moment? Hello? WW2 anyone? Butterfly flapping wings ending up as a hurricane. Reddit wrongly identifying people as terrorists after the Boston marathon bombing? There is precedent of things wildly spiraling out of control, people! Get a grip.
There's no doubt in my mind Russia interfered in this election and that they had a part in this guy's campaign. But also in most of the others. No way they would've stopped to only this one candidate. It's just that this one worked beyond their expectations likely.
The rise of Trump isn't unfounded. There are people willing to give in to mascots such as him all over the world. But as long as the problems pushing them towards these candidates aren't solved, we'll never be able to prevent their rise.
Edit: Right. Forgot about TikTok influencers. Remember Tate brothers? That daddy McPherson dude who went all religious with Russel what's his face? Joe Rogan? Alex Jones? Social media can make something go viral instantly if it has the right people spreading the message to those who want to hear it.
So this guy's campaign doesn't necessarily need foreign backers as long as the right local backers shared his message to their own followers and they agreed with it
The main component you have to deal with is exhaustion. Whether mental or physical, nobody is able to sustain a continuous fighting mindset. The longer the fight, the higher the odds people will burn out and drop all resistance.
Second component is outing infiltrators looking to do the above and destroy your movement from the inside out.
Third component is avoiding radicalization due to the above as it will turn your movement from a reasonable position to a fringe extreme.
Fourth component is to avoid becoming a cult. Ideas are good, but don't fanaticise over them. Not everyone thinks the same and there's always a conflict of ideas.
Fifth component is understanding that people die and their experience and knowledge isn't inherited in full by the next generation, so avoid gathering around a central figure you can't do without.
Sixth component is to find a way of communicating without communicating out loud. Rather than super secret spy stuff, it means having a set of guidelines for people to follow if things don't go according to plan rather than have them panicking.
Seventh component is having conviction. Don't bother doing something like this if you don't believe in it. Doubt will creep in even when you're wholeheartedly dedicated to something, let alone when you're just paying lip service.
Feel free to change or add as desired.
I've seen this one explained from an outside pov and it actually has a bit of nastiness hidden.
So the main overall strategy of the large parties was to throw shit at each other as they aired their dirty laundry. But they didn't bother doing the same with the independent candidates because none of them won before. Then this guy comes in and slaps them in the face without even breaking a sweat.
After a bit of shock, what do they do? They come together and start slinging shit at him. He's an anomaly and a danger they aren't prepared to deal with. And the kicker is that they do in fact have enough ammo to drag him down.
He's conservative and religious. His campaign backers are hidden. And he wants to turtle up in the face of WW3. Now none of them sound good and feel eerily similar to Trump's whole blabber spiel. So he's going down, because he's a danger.
Yet here's the question: If or when his backers are found, will it be because he actually has foreign backers or because everyone else needs him to have foreign backers?
Politics is an ugly game and this guy dropped in at the wrong place and the wrong time.
You're not wrong.
Interpreting the meaning of these words differently can lead to the ambiguous situation where someone with the intent to do so can paint this as a call for extremism and rise to violence. And "I didn't mean it like that" doesn't really cut it in today's weaponized social media environment.
Slams, tears, rips, disembowels, eviscerates...
Anyone feels like this is some sort of silent protest of journalists being turned into an LLM babble mill?
You'll find time loses importance once you no longer have to manage it.
Good question. For serious answers, try asking here https://lemmy.world/c/askscience or other similar communities.
On my part, I can vaguely extract some theories from memory.
One suggests some kind of insufficiency or excess during the growth phase can result in abnormal size of one or more organs, whether larger or smaller and usually accompanied by circulatory problems.
Another suggests it a remnant of evolution, whether specific to a type of environment or early societal development.
Of course, there's also the chemical imbalance issue caused by unchecked industrial exploitation and pollution that causes the entire biological chain to mutate uncontrollably.
But at their base, it's usually hormones that are directed in some way by something either to grow or to stunt.
Sometimes. Once out of the hatch, environmental factors change each individual potentially in a different way. So while the template might be the same at start, further mutations can branch out in other aspects.
A thought process is selective and biased. Can't avoid it in most cases.
Here you think of the wolf being worse than a human for a sheep. But consider this, a wolf will kill the sheep and eat it. A human on the other hand will keep the sheep, lock it up, shear its wool, take its milk, kidnap its young + kill and eat it as the wolf does.
You ask why the sheep selects the wolf, but fail to see that the humane way only prolongs the suffering. Is it really any wonder a sheep would choose the quicker death?
Here's the thing, Europe has about 40-50 countries depending on where you look and who you ask. Of those, only 13 had at least a colony, with UK being top dog in this and Germany being in the middle of the pack.
So let's say that a third of the states in Europe might have at any point in history been able to abuse their colonial powers. Some of those that did are repentant nowadays, others not so much.
The problem with this is you say Europe, but it's actually 1/3 of it. By doing this, you confirm my "out of sight, out of mind" remark as obviously few people would seem to care about the rest 2/3 of Europe having little to no say in the matter because you know, they've been rolled over and over across the centuries by the higher military powers at the times simply not giving a fuck.
The US waged a cultural propaganda war, won and is now in a superior position allowing it to somewhat maintain the illusion. Only time might allow that general perception to change.
As for European hypocrisy, it's just general hypocrisy where politicians smile at the public and exchange benefits. The backstabbing exists as much as everywhere else and the unity exists out of need. Without the different types of pressure from Russia, China, US and such, there would be no EU because there's too much bad history in between.
I'm going off rails... Anyway, my "urgent need" isn't really urgent, I just caught the post in an empty period of time i have nothing better to fill with. And the meme is warping a state of things we can only comment on long after the facts in order to generate spite.
You say Europeans. I ask which ones.
You say all of them. I say we're not that united. It's more of a love-hate polyamory.
You instead say the ones the matter. I say if only some matter, then why hate on the rest as well?
That's bullshit and you should know it. No powerful nation reached its status without oppressing and exploiting the weak, no matter the direction of the compass you're watching. And the more ambitious, the greater the horrors committed.
You think the US isn't being condemned? Have you been on the internet? It's been and being condemned every day from the start. They just don't give a fuck because they're the foremost global military power.
Please. Out of sight, out of mind is a general human condition. Don't excuse all others by making it an exclusive trait of a certain group you happen to dislike.
Napoleon was from a time when monarchies were still the mainstream. Hitler is post 1848 revolutions and series of reforms that gradually changed perceptions and general education of the populace.
Though Napoleon's wars caused a large amount of destruction and received appropriate criticism, it was still considered pretty much the norm at that time of imperial dominance.
Hitler on the other hand acted when democracy and civil rights were heading towards full growth. The people's thoughts and general knowledge were very different from Napoleon's era.
As a side note, France before and during Napoleon lost most of its foreign colonies. So his wars in large majority had European victims. Yet that wasn't enough to make him taboo, which means having European victims isn't the main issue that caused Hitler to be taboo.
Simply by positioning, he chose to cut off the most useless part of himself at that point in time.
A timid beetle(?)
What's its name? I've seen some before, but rarely. Once every few years or so. Thanks
Edit: the likeliest candidate is an Old House Borer without antennae.
