This is a question of prescriptivism vs. descriptivism. People might say they shouldn't be used as such, but I'll bet a lot of people who say that are guilty of doing it anyway.
Those analog sticks look difficult to reach.
Almost everything I play is just 2D indie games, practically any 2D game should run just fine on that.
There are so many great 2D games I could rattle off that I almost don't know where to start. But since you mentioned RPGs, I am legally obligated to shill CrossCode at any opportunity.
This won't exactly be like the PSP or Vita, because it's not going to have its own separate software library. A large part of what held those platforms back was the fact that developers were too busy making console games, but if this just runs PS4/5 titles then at least that part is sorted out.
It's the same as what Nintendo is doing, one software platform for titles that can be played handheld or console.
I wonder how far off this is planned for. Handheld PS5 obviously isn't viable now, but if this isn't hitting shelves for a few years maybe it eventually will be.

Anything turn-based and mouse-driven like Slay the Spire, Dicey Dungeons, Baba is You, Inscryption, Super Auto Pets, Mega Knockdown, chess, riichi mahjong, visual novels, etc. Or anything turn-based in general regardless of control scheme if you're alright with playing slowly.

Rhythm Doctor - A one button rhythm game.
-
Crypt of the Necrodancer - This game's control scheme was designed to be possible to play it on a dance pad. Which means you can also just play it with WASD or arrow keys.

I wanna shout out Puyo Puyo Champions since it actually has a one handed preset in its controller options. D-pad or ABXY to move and L1/L2 or R1/R2 to rotate. Caveat though is that the Steam version is not at all active online, I would strongly recommend getting it on Switch if you can.

Puyo Puyo 20th Anniversary
Shame about nearly everything else Sega has done to the franchise since.
Framing this as a meme implies there's supposed to be some sort of irony here.
I'm here, not planning on leaving any time soon. But I'm also acknowledging that Lemmy can't fully be everything Reddit was, not without a Reddit-size userbase.
I'm saying that when the problem is a low userbase, responding with "you're spoiled for even wanting niche hobby spaces, and it's your fault for not putting in an excessive amount of energy that isn't even likely to pay off (because the userbase isn't there)" isn't productive.
I never said I don't want to be on Lemmy. But when people talk about the downsides of this platform's still niche userbase, it isn't productive to jump in and admonish them for just not trying hard enough to manifest a critical mass of users through sheer willpower.
Better UX would be nice, but that's not what would solve the Nazi problem.
Next time I need tech support for an obscure indie game that probably sold less than a thousand copies I'll be sure to check the Lemmy community for that game.
Okay, now you literally are saying I didn't try hard enough.
This is not my first account (it's also not anywhere close to a year old, not sure where you got that idea). I'd tried to start a few communities over on kbin.social, but that's gone now.
I don't have the energy to spend several hours a day flooding threads nobody will engage with, just in the hopes that if I keep it up forever eventually one of them might get a reply or two. It's not that easy, and it's patronizing to act like that's such a simple solution I should've thought of.
Fighting games and Riichi Mahjong. !fgc@lemmy.world and !mahjong@lemmy.nerdcore.social exist, but are pretty barren. I'd also previously tried to start communities for them on kbin.social, but that's gone now.
Also arcade-style versus puzzle games, but those are so dead these days that even on Reddit they didn't have an active sub.
Not overnight, that's for sure. It's going to take a long time to ever get that kind of critical mass.
Puyo Puyo Champions - help me I'm relapsing
Riichi Mahjong - mahjong causes great damage to the human spirit without a single benefit
Blue Revolver: Double Action - This has been sitting in my Steam library and I saw it got a big update. Learning how to play a shmup is on my bucket list, but so far I cannot get any further than stage 4 on the lowest difficulty. Very fun though, and banger OST.
Also went down to Round 1 earlier this week, haven't been in years. Played a few rounds of Wacca, Chunithm, Arcana Heart, and Chaos Code.
I've tried, believe me I've tried. Posting a bunch of threads out into the void doesn't suddenly manifest a like-minded community to reply to and engage with those threads. It won't truly be viable until there's a much larger userbase to begin with.
And honestly, it just comes across as patronizing to say the only reason my hobbies don't have traction here must be because I didn't try hard enough.
Tokyo High Court rules not allowing same-sex marriage unconstitutional
The Tokyo High Court ruled on Wednesday that Japanese laws that do not recognize same-sex marriages violate the country's Constitution. This is the second time a high court in the country has handed down such a decision.
Justin Wong got meme'd for a photo back in 2017, now it's permanently referenced in Granblue Fantasy Versus
Justin Wong was already known for Evo Moment 37, winning Evo a lot more than anyone else, and teaching kids life lessons in Mortal Kombat (plus a Wiki page's worth of other notable accomplishments). In 2017 he added another ...
