After Trump's win, Black women are rethinking their role as America's reliable political organizers
  • Trump got more votes in 2020 than in 2016 by a large margin. Don't forget the pandemic was still in full swing in 2020. In 2024 more people voted for him than 2020.

Whatever their reasoning, people are looking at this guy and they like what they see.

  • I remember when that movie came out people argued with me that the Democrats were the party that was going to create the world of Interstellar and the Republicans were "standing up for science".

It was obviously nonsense then so i have little illusions that those people have changed their view on it--or if they have, they've simply changed to believe the moon landing was faked.

  • So the person above may think they're so clever, or whoever fed them that factoid may think that. Notice the claim is remineralization. Maybe that's true, it may be that a study first showed that in 1975 and that's not contradicted by your link but that is a non sequitur. It's not what we're talking about, it's not a good faith argument.

  • In 1945, Grand Rapids became the first city in the world to fluoridate its drinking water. The Grand Rapids water fluoridation study was originally sponsored by the U.S. Surgeon General, but was taken over by the NIDR shortly after the Institute's inception in 1948. During the 15-year project, researchers monitored the rate of tooth decay among Grand Rapids' almost 30,000 schoolchildren. After just 11 years, Dean- who was now director of the NIDR-announced an amazing finding. The caries rate among Grand Rapids children born after fluoride was added to the water supply dropped more than 60 percent. This finding, considering the thousands of participants in the study, amounted to a giant scientific breakthrough that promised to revolutionize dental care, making tooth decay for the first time in history a preventable disease for most people.

  • Crowd cheered as two transgender women were attacked in Minneapolis, advocates say
  • My take is Minnesota in general is very divided. There are some very cool people there but also some very horrible ones. The cool ones are winning but that doesn't mean they win every time or that it's inevitable that they win.

  • Marjorie Taylor Greene Suggests Releasing All Ethics Reports, Not Just Gaetz's: "If We're Going to Dance, Let's All Dance In The Sunlight'
  • She's definitely going after the Republicans because they're the ones who have the power to force this release. The Dems have no real impact as long as the Republicans vote as a bloc, which they are likely to do. This is basically a threat to people who might step out of line that their records might be next.

  • Russia has never wanted peace
  • The whole Ukraine crisis started with the offer of an EU accession agreement to Ukraine in 2014

I think the crisis technically started with a military invasion. If not that, then we could go back and forth on this to the founding of NATO and before.
