You'll never appreciate your health so much as when you recover from illness... So at least you have that to look forward to.
Those 100 companies have made it so it's incredibly difficult not to buy from them.
Groceries? There's like 10 companies that own all of the food supply. Good luck figuring out which one's have child labor, and a horrendous environmental impact. They've very purposely masked that image.
Oh wow, everything is recyclable! No, those companies just slapped that logo on all of their products so we can ignorantly wish-cycle their garbage. Most of it ends up in the landfill.
Don't want a car? Our cities are very deliberately designed to require cars. There is a very strong private agenda against good public transportation.
Then there's the pollution. These companies pollute so much more than we know. Whether that's dumping forever chemicals into our water, or taking private jets everywhere. It's not like the label on your T-shirt tells you that.
Finally find a good company? They'll buy it up, lobby against it, or coerce them out of business. Just look how many companies Luxottica has destroyed.
There's layer after layer of obfuscation to hide what these companies are doing. It's not just a matter of picking Product A over Product B. We rarely have much choice, or the information to make better choices.
Now make them sell YouTube... Or better yet, split it into multiple companies.
Edit a typo
Wow, a lot people knew the answer. You even managed to find an image.
Mind blown.
Thanks everyone!
Why does the snow melt in this pattern?
This is a sidewalk grip where it ramps up from the street. I noticed that all of them have the same melt pattern. Low traffic area when no one was out.
Just curious if anyone knows why
Good idea, but that doesn't appear to be it either.
Same problem on another machine. It seems so strange that I've had this happen before with a different brand, and that the vertical works normally.
This mouse is probably 4 years old fwiw.
How is he planning on getting back?
Also, won't his wheels wear out?
Gaming Mouse - Dead?
I have a Naga Hex 2, which I really like. It recently lost sensitivity to horizontal movement. If I move the mouse slowly, the cursor doesn't move. Moving the mouse fairly quickly, however works fine. Vertically it works as expected as well. I've had something similar happen to other mice in the past (different computers, etc.)
Is this common? Is the mouse broken? Has this happened to anyone else?
I can't think of the words to bring back an answer in a search engine.
And that's how you get a new Spider-Man villain.
It was probably still worth what you bought it for. Those things hold their value forever, despite bring notorious for being unreliable.
I had a 93' with absolutely no features others than 4WD. No cruise, AC, nothing. It was worth about the same as my 05' accord with pretty much every feature.
The clutch died three times in 30k miles on my Wrangler. The local shop, a Jeep dealer, and a Wrangler specialty shop couldn't figure out why. I finally found the answer in a forum. Basically the brake lines shared fluid with the clutch and there was a small leak. The clutch always failed first so no one ever found the leak.
Also, the Wrangler is the only vehicle I've ever spun out on the highway, and it happened more than once.
It's got to end soon, or we're well screwed.
My insurance payment + my jobs contribution (can't say whether or not they lie on the form about their share) is over a thousand per month. And I still have co-pays and shit that isn't covered. I've had a couple of X-rays and and a sling this year. I'm probably out another $2k on top of my insurance. It would be much cheaper for me to pay out of pocket and save the difference for a rainy day.
Fuck the entire insurance industry.
Narrator: "They did not."
Firing squad apparently
I had many teeth ruined by a crooked dentist. I didn't need any dental work for fifteen years after I changed dentists.
I don't know why there aren't government stings for dentists and mechanics. We have them against restaurants and bars all the time.
My wife used to get all grumpy with high school kids (and sometimes even adults) trick or treating. I told her, I'm glad to see anyone that still has that spirit and energy. And if they don't have costumes... They probably can't afford them. Worst case, they're doing something better than the trouble they could be up to.
... But fuck those people that take the whole bowl at houses with no one home.
I hate the bloatware attached to Android phones, so I went with a pixel 8. Pretty good phone, but the camera was defective. They sent me a refurbished replacement. It died from water damage... from a wet hand. On a phone rated for 30 minutes below 5 feet of water, that was disappointing. The second replacement drops signals all the time. Spotify glitches 5+ times per song. Google won't give me another replacement.
Never trust anything refurbished.
These are all ridiculously evil, but #7 should really be all the evidence it should take to convince anyone.
All he had to do was say "stop," but he refused. No other president would have gotten away with sitting idle while their capital was being overthrown.
Not sure if this is a map from Counter Strike or Uncharted...
I bought cough drops at a CVS once. They were like 4x the price of the grocery store. It's no wonder their insurance sucks. Also, yes, verticals like that should not exist.
The biggest kick in the balls is that insurance still doesn't cover shit. There's still co-pays, tons of things that aren't covered, out of network, maximum use of services, and anything large will almost certainly be denied by default. The co-pays alone are often as much as the service should cost.
Health insurance is a parasite. Profiting (massively) by being a gatekeeper to good health is pure evil.
Health insurance is nearly a trillion dollar industry. There is no way to have a middle man that big and somehow save money.
Their goals are 100% opposed to ours. By denying care and charging more, they profit.
We can't even shop around for a better provider because it's tied to our jobs. The entire system is broken.
Abolish health insurance.
Quest Streaming
I'm going to have a party with multiple headsets running, each with a stream so people can view, and I can easily help new players.
I used to be able to begin a stream from the Quest app by clicking cast and selecting the device- Chromecast in my case. Once the connection was established, my phone was no longer necessary.
Easy.
Now. As far as I know, I can either:
- Stream to my phone and cast a mirror. I hate that, because private phone stuff, I can't turn off my phone, or use it for phone stuff.
- Stream to a PC: Make the request from the headset. Access the headset from a browser. Connect that to a TV.
Option 2 would be fine, except neither option has been stable for me. There is almost always a disconnection within 30 minutes.
Is there a better option? A way to increase stability?
Thanks!
Keyboard Recommendation?
My havit KB395L died. It was cheapish, but great for me. I should have bought 3, because they don't make it anymore.
I bought a Red Dragon Horus (k618rgp-pro) with red switches as a replacement. The form factor is fine, and I like the wireless, but the keys feel mushy and I make typos constantly.
So, now I'm looking for something with:
- Low Profile
- Blue switches
- Tactile (feel the bump on a key press)
- Full size (I guess I could go ten keyless)
- Backlight Bonus features:
- Wireless
- Hot swappable switches
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
Persistent Live USB Install?
How can I easily make a live USB drive that is persistent? My goal is to boot it through the boot menu (not grub). And just reboot to Windows for the few things I need on my laptop. I would prefer if my laptop had no trace of Linux installed. I found a guide, but it looked endless and needlessly complicated. Does anyone have a premade process? I'm not attached to any distro.
Any help is much appreciated.
Background: Every couple of years I get fed up with windows and give Linux another try. I love the idea behind it, the stability and... Inevitably I find something that won't run, then get fed up. I no longer have the energy for Wine or running more than a command or two. I want the idiot experience.
Recently, I put together a live USB of Mint. It did most of what I need, but I didn't want to deal with grub or partitions. Errors there suuuuck. So, I figured a persistent USB version would be great. From what I read, you can just install like normal, only to the USB drive. Of course I accidentally installed grub and nearly gave myself a heart attack when I couldn't get to the boot menu. (Had to put the USB drive back in). The Linux install didn't work either- not sure why. So, now I'm back to hating Microsoft's increasing ads and data tracking, wishing Linux was just a little simpler.
Pandora Premium "On Us"
Well, I just spent an hour with customer service. First trying to gain access to my own bill. Then trying to understand why I'm being charged for Pandora Premium "on us", which clearly is not "on us", and I never signed up for (T Mobile assured me I did).
Made me wonder how many others went from a free Tidal account to a not free Pandora account.
Anyone else?
Vertical Bands Across 5x Photos?
The photo isn't very interesting, but it showcases the problem. I have a 7 Pro and my pictures all look great ... Except when I use the 5x lens. All of my pictures come out with these vertical stripes.
Warranty support says I should try a factory reset. That's a huge pain and I doubt if it will fix anything.
Thoughts? Anyone have a similar issue?
