Gibson hits Trump Guitars with cease and desist for resemblance to Les Paul body design
  • I think the case has a pretty solid backing though. Gibson has made a more or less identical guitar for 100 years, same with Les Paul, Statocasters, and pretty much all guitar manufacturers. You could argue it's predatory from the largest guitar manufacturer, but they will probably win.

  • Another trickle down economics lie
  • Without looking at data, I would suggest taxing aluminum first because that will make cheap beer more expensive. Cities will tend towards bars (steel kegs) and independent brewers (glass bottles), while conservatives will drink bud lights from a can.

You could probably do way better with data, and China has more data than any other country. They will find the perfect product to tariff.

  • Smh my head, Ingress was a copy of a game called Shadow Cities. No one knows that cuz Ingress got a big corporate sponsorship and Shadow Cities eventually went belly up when the 4-person Dev team got bored.

  • Serious - what job should be replaced by AI?
  • Replacing politicians with AIs actually sounds really cool. Instead of voting, you write an essay on the things you value. An AI reads all their voting base's essays and votes in a way that predominantly aligns with their voter's ideals. This isn't direct or indirect democracy, it's a totally new approach driven by mathematical averages.

Politicians shouldn't negotiate to get something passed. If the senate of AIs doesn't like it, it's unpassable, you just have to write a new bill. No tit for tat, no lobbying, no friends protecting friends. The only people in politics are the ones who write bills, and they can check to see if their bill would pass in a few minutes on a server, and that will be the actual vote because voting is reproducible behavior, then they'll decide if they have to revise it.

  • Using comments as arguments in python.
  • This isn't standard python. lib is not in the standard library. Python also doesn't have any special variables where it stores comments, other than __doc__ which stores a docstring. If I had to guess, add is reading the file/REPL via __file__.

  • Tesla Has Highest Rate of Deadly Accidents Among Car Brands, Study Finds
  • The study said they normalize by mileage, which will account for both model popularity and driving distance. Driving safety is usually reported in incidents per mile or something to that effect, so that's all standard.

  • Nvidia RTX 5090 GPU price leaked again, and it’s still eye-wateringly expensive
  • Honestly specs hardly matter for the top of the line GPUs. The flops are basically infinite, and gaming has visually stagnated to the point where you would never know the difference. I just bought a new card and focused mostly on vram per dollar, which probably has a stronger correlation with hardware longevity.

  • Why won't my want give me an upgraded staff?

I have a +3 want of lightning and an unupgraded staff, and according to the wiki, I should end up with a +2 staff, but it says I'll only get a level 1 staff. Why? I tried this on a different run, and it actually gave me an unupgraded staff, it's not just the prompt being wrong. I'm playing the latest version of Shattered Pixel Dungeon.

Can this just be repaired with superglue, or should I talk to a specialist

This happened to the tweeter of one of my Theil speakers. I don't have an audio technician nearby, so I was hoping to do this repair myself.

DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - On Thursday, the Satanic Temple of Iowa announced that their display at the Iowa Capitol had been significantly damaged.

The controversial display, which Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds called “objectionable,” featured a ram’s head covered with mirrors on a mannequin before being damaged.

Organizers say it’s a symbol of their right to religious freedom.

The Satanic Temple of Iowa posted the following message on their Facebook page:

“This morning, we were informed by authorities that the Baphomet statue in our holiday display was destroyed beyond repair. We are proud to continue our holiday display for the next few days that we have been allotted.

We ask that for safety, visitors travel together and use the 7 Tenets as a reminder for empathy, in the knowledge that justice is being pursued the correct way, through legal means.

KCCI has reported that 35-year-old Michael Cassidy of Lauderdale, Mississippi, was charged with Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree. He has since been released.

Solve et Coagula! Happy Holidays! Hail Satan!”
